Did you know that LGBTQ Youth are disproportionately represented in the youth legal and child welfare systems? Once involved in the system, LGBTQ Youth also face unique challenges; for example, they are three times more likely to be removed from their homes, and seven times more likely to be placed in a group home. This is a systemic problem that can be fixed!   The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy has partnered with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and Ceres Policy Research to offer The Supporting the Well-Being of System-Involved LBGTQ Youth Certificate Program. Marcela recently learned that her father will be released from prison. Marcela has been having trouble sleeping, focusing while in school, and has nightmares about her childhood in Colombia.
