Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the FL Apex Accelerator Reverse Trade Show 2024 to show our support for small businesses in Central Florida. There were 125 small businesses in attendance, including over 50% minority owned, 37.6% veteran owned, and 30.4% woman owned! CFTOD Building Official Joey Rodriguez attended the Dedication Ceremony for Angel Saffold. Ms. Saffold, a deserving recipient of this home, worked tirelessly to accomplish her goal of home ownership. While working a full-time job, she fought hard to raise her four children in her hometown. Our region faces a housing crisis, and each home Habitat builds provides not only a home but a cascading ripple effect throughout our community. Joey said, “It’s always a great feeling to give back to our community by lending my skills and time. I give a heartfelt thanks to Habitat for Humanity, Mayor Demmings, and the CFTOF team who helped to make this possible.” The District celebrates the strong future this home will give Angel and her children. Yesterday, Fire Chief Ferrari unveiled the fire department's new name and emblem, a decision voted on by all 220 public safety personnel in the department. The newly-named District Fire Department is upholding its ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of all guests on district property. As Chief Eric Ferrari stated, "Today, we wholeheartedly embrace change, drawing upon the same unwavering determination that has defined our response to every call for service. Our freshly minted name and emblem signify not just a new chapter but an entirely revitalized narrative. We stand as custodians of countless cherished memories, guardians of the thousands who contribute to the magic that defines our community.
