They wrote:   "One of the students that has been at the justice center since I started sometimes avoids me for weeks at a time. I put him on my list and ask to see him every day I'm here, even if he says no. He hasn't been avoiding me recently! Today, he asked to see me after I met with some other students, and then he was sometimes timid but said he's learned to talk to people more. He said, 'Thank you for helping me learn to open up.' HUGE victory!!! My heart is overflowing!!" ☀ This story is a powerful reminder that when we consistently show up for young people, even when they seem distant, we're telling them, "You matter. You're wanted." Thanks to the support of the St. Louis Blues, 🏒we're excited to launch a new chapter in youth mental health at Jefferson Intermediate School! This week, counselors and CHADS support staff completed Hope Squad training, a program empowering students to recognize peers at risk for suicide and seek help from trusted adults. 🔆Program Highlights 🔆 • Raise awareness of suicide warning signs • Train staff and students in prevention & intervention • Promote positive peer relationships and help-seeking behavior • Reduce youth suicide rates • Build strong connections with local mental health resources • Transform school culture with mental health awareness With the Blues backing us and the team's support and participation at Jefferson Intermediate and the St. Charles County School District, we're ready to bring hope and support to every student.
