We were honored to host today’s US-Ukraine Reconstruction, Investment, and Innovation Forum alongside cosponsors Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and the Baratta Center for Global Business - Georgetown McDonough! In-person and virtual attendees had the opportunity to hear from esteemed guests from both the United States and #Ukraine, including Former First Lady of Ukraine Kateryna Yushchenko, Senior Advisor for Ukraine Recovery at USAID, Alex Tiersky, Vice President for International Relations at Medtronic, Trevor Gunn, and many more! Our Chemonics delegation, including Tetyana Dudka and Susanna Mudge, delivered inspiring remarks and moderated fascinating panels on how the #PrivateSector can support the renewal and reinvention of the Ukrainian economy. During the event, our own Ibrahim Osta also announced a brand new partnership with Flare aimed at supporting Ukrainian private sector firms to build the necessary skills and provide access to tools that enable them to effectively manage external cyber threats! By building the capacity of personnel of selected firms on #cybersecurity needs and approaches to threat exposure prevention, management, and mitigation, we’re helping to make the future of Ukraine safer and more #resilient. On #WorldYouthSkillsDay, we're reminded that the future of our planet lies in the hands of today's youth. As we confront the challenges of #ClimateChange, it is crucial to harness the potential of young people in driving the #SustainableEnergyTransition. In our our latest blog, a conversation with Anna Guo Ya Pettee of Unbounded Associates explores how development practitioners can center youths’ experiences and enhance their opportunities in the global shift towards renewable energy. Reducing the barriers that youth face in accessing clean energy jobs can transform national energy systems to not only to address climate change, but also to create jobs and drive #EconomicGrowth. Discover strategies for fostering youth engagement and leadership in clean energy in "3 Questions with Anna Pettee on Engaging Youth in Clean Energy." ⚡ https://ow.ly/Mp7p50SBoMZ

For today's #PhotoFriday, see a vendor in Sebha, Southern Libya, sell tea in the street. 🫖 The USAID Libya Economic Acceleration Project is focused on micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises owned and operated by historically marginalized groups (such as the tea vendor pictured above) to help them increase sales, create #sustainable high-quality jobs, and cultivate #innovation in the private sector by expanding viable alternatives to the illicit economy in Southern #Libya. 📸: Abdulsalam Aboubakr

Chemonics International is thrilled to have participated in the 3rd Environmental Peacebuilding Conference #EnPAx2024 held in The Hague, The Netherlands, this June. This landmark event brought together thought leaders, practitioners, and innovators from around the globe to discuss and advance the critical intersection of environmental sustainability and peacebuilding. During the conference, our team engaged in insightful discussions, shared our experiences, and learned from peer implementors. In a Chemonics-led event entitled 'Bridging Theory and Practice: Community-Led Carbon Initiatives in Colombia from Páramos to Pacific', we heard directly from community member Laddie Vernaza, leader and activist of the black communities of the Collective Territory of the Patía Grandes Sus Brazos River and the Ensenada of Tumaco Community Council. COPs from USAID-funded Tierra Dorada and Programa Amazonia Mía de USAID, Elisa Bravo and Roberto León Gómez, shared their perspectives working across geographies in Colombia, focusing on the interlinkages between nature-based solutions and peacebuilding, which was bolstered by Diana Campos' perspective as a socio-environmental peacebuilder at partner organization, CDA Collaborative Learning Projects. Key takeaways from conference participation include: 🌿 Innovative approaches to integrating environmental considerations into peacebuilding efforts (including a focus on Colombia). 🌿 Best practices for fostering collaboration between local communities, governments, and international organizations. 🌿 Strategies for addressing the complex challenges of climate change and resource management in conflict-affected regions. We are inspired and motivated by the collective commitment to making a positive impact on both the environment and global peace. Chemonics remains dedicated to driving transformative change and looks forward to implementing these learnings in our projects around the world. Thank you to the organizers and all the participants for making this conference a resounding success. 🌱 #EnvironmentalPeacebuilding #Sustainability #Peacebuilding Brian App Savannah Norman Carl Vosloh Amber Bjerre
