  • #FutureMidwest! World's tallest mass-timber skyscraper could be built in Milwaukee. Michael Green Architecture have designed the world's tallest mass-timber skyscraper for Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 55-storey tower would be part of a $700m new development and built alongside the Marcus Center in central Milwaukee. The multi-tower development from developer Neutral is currently going through the city's approvals process. The development would include include office space, retail, a hotel, residential and public plazas. Renderings show the tower made primarily from mass-timber elements, making it the tallest engineered-wood skyscraper in the world if completed. The proposed development comes at a time when Milwaukee’s mayor Cavalier Johnson is pushing population growth for the city. Johnson has said about the project ‘As mayor, I have not been shy about my goal to grow our city's population to one million Milwaukeeans. To do that we need to be aggressive and reach for new heights," "This project will help us do just that, literally aiming to set local and global records, but ust as importantly add density and activity to an underutilized City-controlled parcel in downtown Milwaukee."
