This week was our annual SPARK Leadership Summit at Christian Living Communities! More than 70 of CLC-Cappella's clinical, operational, and sales & marketing leaders from across the state convened at our Englewood support office. On our second day, we reached more than 130 team members, family members, and residents who gathered together to learn more about Living Well with Dementia. We were joined by international dementia educator Jessica Luh-Kim and Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) board member Mark Timmons, who was diagnosed at 48 years old with early onset Alzheimer’s. The pair helped us connect the dots between The Eden Alternative Domains of Well-Being, our Rhythms Dementia approach, and our desire to create environments of true belonging and citizenship for everyone working, living, and visiting our communities. It was an energizing two days of learning, growth, camaraderie, celebration, and recommitment to our vision and mission. It was a powerful week of learning and growth for several members of the CLC team who attended The Eden Alternative International Conference in Philadelphia. Jill Vitale-Aussem participated in two leadership panel discussions and presented alongside Stormie Foust Maley on creating inclusive communities for LGBTQ+ elders. Dan Swiatkiewicz was introduced as a new member of The Eden Alternative Board of Directors. And Madelyn Chapman attended the conference on a CLC scholarship, made possible by CLC supporters. We are honored to have had the opportunity to sponsor such a moving conference and look forward to seeing its impacts in the months and years to come.
