Great story from our CITGO Lake Charles Refinery team and United Way of Southwest Louisiana! The Strong Homes Initiative, a protective storm readiness partnership between CITGO and United Way of SWLA, is helping local residents worry less about storm damage to their homes. The program is available to ALICE (asset-limited, income-constrained, employed) homeowners in Calcasieu Parish and offers proactive tree-trimming efforts to prevent damage to homes during hurricane season.   In the picture: Sterling Neblett, CITGO Vice President and General Manager of the Lake Charles Refinery, stands with Denise Durel, United Way of Southwest Louisiana President & CEO, Chad Victorian, Victorian Enterprises, and local resident Diedre King. Ms. King is one of 13 homeowners who’ve received assistance through the Strong Home Initiative. #HurricanePreparedness #CommunitySupport #SWLA

Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida's Big Bend as a Category 1 storm, leaving millions of people without power while dealing with the aftermath. In response, CITGO is supporting local disaster relief efforts across affected communities with a $25,000 donation to Team Rubicon. Funds are set to be used for debris removal, chainsaw operations, roof tarping, and mucking and gutting out homes. "With our recent experience with Hurricane Beryl in the Houston area, we understand what our neighbors in Florida are experiencing right now and we want to help with the recovery," said Chris Kiesling, CITGO Assistant Vice President of Light Oils Operations and Marketing. "We have a longstanding relationship with the people of Florida and the response efforts in Perry will help them restore their homes and businesses as soon as possible." Ware Oil & Supply Co., Inc., a 34-year CITGO branded marketer headquartered in Perry, Fla., is an integral part of the Big Bend fuel distribution network, supplying the North Florida and South Georgia region with wholesale fuels, specialty fuels, and lubricants. "It's a great relief to have Team Rubicon helping our communities right now and we also know that wouldn't be possible without CITGO, a great partner in business and a great partner in our community," said don everett jr., President of Ware Oil and Supply. CITGO recently received the Above and Beyond Award from the Florida Petroleum Marketers Association (FPMA) for its industry and community assistance dating back to Hurricane Charlie in 2004. "Supporting our communities in good times and bad is part of our DNA," continued Kiesling, "and we thank FPMA for recognizing our efforts to help ensure our customers such as Ware Oil and CITGO consumers across the state get back to normal."

Following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, CITGO is donating $100,000 to support local disaster relief efforts being conducted by the Houston Food Bank (HFB), Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and Team Rubicon.   “Our community took a direct hit from Beryl and affected millions of people, some of whom are still suffering weeks after the storm,” said CITGO President and CEO Carlos Jordá. “These three organizations are at the forefront of the recovery efforts, and together we are committed to helping our neighbors in their time of greatest need.”   Here’s how the organizations will use the donation:   ➡ $50,000 to Houston Food Bank (HFB) In the aftermath of Beryl, HFB’s production output and distribution doubled to approximately 1.2 million pounds of food per day. The funds will help distribute ice, water, fruit, and ready-to-eat meals to HFB’s network of community partners, including cooling centers and shelters. As the communities in HFB’s 18-county service area focus on recovery, HFB will continue to deliver disaster boxes and non-perishable food items and replenish its warehouse and coolers to support ongoing summer feeding programs and regular distributions.   ➡ $25,000 to Catholic Charities Catholic Charities, in collaboration with TeamCITGO volunteers, used the donation to support a drive-through disaster distribution event on July 20 at its headquarters. During this event, food, water, and cleaning supplies were distributed to individuals and families affected by the storm.   ➡ $25,000 to Team Rubicon Team Rubicon deployed disaster response volunteers—or Greyshirts—to the state on July 13 to provide Hurricane Beryl assistance. The Greyshirts are serving in and around Houston, tarping roofs, conducting chainsaw operations to clear access to homes and critical infrastructure, bucking and limbing vegetative debris, and mucking out homes damaged by the hurricane.
