📢 Artists wanted for new public art in the Barrio Calling all artists! The city is seeking an artist or artist team to develop a new public art piece in Carlsbad’s historical Barrio area. Please help us raise awareness of this very special opportunity by tagging an artist and sharing with your networks. And if you’re an artist, keep on reading! Request for artist qualifications - https://lnkd.in/g9YuNA8V Deadline: June 24, 2024, 5 p.m. Background: Arts and culture have long been essential components of Carlsbad life. For this new work of art, the city is looking for an original, site-specific art for a public space that creates a sense of place in the Barrio. The city involved the community at the earliest stages of the project’s development to gather feedback about how the new art could best reflect the Barrio’s neighborhood identity and cultural and historic heritage. Here is a summary report that includes some of the common themes heard so far. https://lnkd.in/gH7V2SEX The artist will be chosen by a subcommittee including professional artists, members of the Arts Commission and residents with ties to the Barrio community. Once an artist is selected, there will be additional opportunities for public input into the design of the artwork.
