Clearwater Parks & Recreation recently wrapped up the summer camp season with the annual Character Trait Celebration! Each year, staff plans a special day for campers who exemplify the valuable character traits they've learned about throughout the summer. During the celebration, these remarkable young individuals enjoy a shared lunch, talk about why they were chosen and are recognized in a memorable ceremony. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated recreation center staff and camp counselors for their hard work and commitment throughout the summer, making this event—and the entire camp season—a success. Here are just a few of her incredible achievements over the past year: *Recertified Clearwater as a Coast Guard City *Formalized a new Sister City relationship with Mexico *Completed over 300 surveys for the Americans for the Arts Foundation, producing a report on the economic impact of arts and culture programming in Clearwater *Granted $1 million in ARPA funds to local non-profits for arts and culture projects *Secured a $30k National Endowment of the Arts grant for two large countryside water tank murals *Managed the installation of four Coachman Park Murals, including one that won the Best Mural in the VSPC “Besties” awards *Designed and installed a sculpture at Fire Station 46 *Held two "Art in the Park" events at Coachman Park *Created and managed two employee art contests, displaying employee art at the MSB Parking Garage *Coordinated a mural festival adding seven new murals to our city *Revitalized the MSB parking garage with new art *Organized a delegation trip for 29 people to visit our sister city in Nagano, Japan *Facilitated middle and high school exchanges with Japan, resuming programs post-COVID *Arranged for art exhibits at the Aging Well Center, MSB, and the main library *Established the Arts Alliance as the official arts alliance of Clearwater On a personal note, Amber was one of the winners in the "I Make Clearwater Thrive" contest, further highlighting her commitment to enhancing our community with art, culture, and vibrancy. 🌟 Last week, Clearwater had the honor of hosting delegates from our sister city, Ixmiquilpan, Mexico, including the new Mayor-elect. We were thrilled to engage in meaningful discussions with the delegates and Mexican Consulate members, alongside our City Management team, to explore ways to foster our new relationship and strengthen the cultural bonds between our communities. A special highlight was the City Council's attendance at the closing ceremony of a cultural summer camp organized by the local group Federación de Hidalguenses.
