Our multi-dimensional water supply and reliability planning includes efforts to reduce demand by saving water. Like many other California water providers, we have a robust water efficiency program to help our community achieve water savings. Thanks to the dedication of our residents and businesses, we have successfully reduced water use by 17 percent compared to 2013 levels, even amid continued economic prosperity. Continued statewide water use regulations and changing weather conditions underscore the need for ongoing conservation while also increasing access to surface water and groundwater. Check out KOVR | CBS News Sacramento coverage of what we have historically achieved. We recognize this muscle memory, and we need to adopt technology and other approaches to continue our water savings journey.

We love to share our story and experiences about our groundwater program that uses Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR). We were happy to host visitors from all over at one of our wells, which uses technology to extract and bank water depending on water supply conditions. As our water managers work to increase water reliability statewide, events like this are important. They help us share knowledge, explain how we run this program, and build relationships we will need in the future. Thank you to everyone who attended and spent time with us. We also want to thank Association of California Water Agencies for coordinating events like these.

What a day at the Region 3 & 4 event today - with over 80 people in attendance. We heard about harnessing the power of the regional watershed took a tour of the City of Roseville’s Aquifer Storage and Recovery Well. Thanks to sponsors Roseville, ACWA JPIA and Stantec. #CAWater
