About us

The City of Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County and celebrated its Centennial in 2013. Homestead lies near the southern-most tip of Florida, where sunny days are in the majority and the average temperature is 75 degrees. The City's Historic Downtown encompasses 11 city blocks that comprise an area of approximately 12 acres. Recently, the City embarked on a dramatic Downtown Revitalization Project designed to breathe new life into the Historic District with a variety of public and private projects and partnerships. Ten miles west are the vast mangrove forests and watery sawgrass plains of Everglades National Park, a subtropical wilderness that shelters alligator and ibis, eagle and manatee. To the east and south are Biscayne Bay and its underwater national park, the Florida Keys and the Atlantic Ocean. Thirty miles north is Miami, "Gateway to the Americas," and one of the country's exciting international cities.

🎆 Feature Friday 🎆 🎉 It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Homestead Police Department has finished first place in the State of Florida for the Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge in Category 6, which includes agencies of similar size (101-200 officers). 🏆 This prestigious awards ceremony was held in Orlando, Florida, in late July, and is hosted annually by FDOT. This remarkable achievement was made possible by the coordinated efforts of all our officers in proactive traffic enforcement within the City of Homestead over the past year. An incredible achievement was made possible by Sgt. Agosto and the Traffic Unit through their meticulous planning of DUI saturation details and other proactive traffic enforcement initiatives. Their dedicated efforts significantly contributed to reducing traffic-related fatalities, DUI-related crashes, and DUIs, which were instrumental in securing our top-place finish.👏 Additionally, on July 24th and 25th, 2024, our Traffic Unit attended the 2024 Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge Training and Recognition Event. We were honored to be invited as our agency ranked within the top three in our category. Competing with outstanding agencies such as the Pinellas Park Police Department and Gainesville Police Department, we proudly brought home the 1st Place Award for Category 6. 🌟 Congratulations to all the Officers in HPD. We are so proud of your achievement. This is a testament to the excellent work and dedication of the rank and file. Please continue to keep the flag of success flying high. 🚀 Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication and hard work. Your commitment to safety and excellence shines brightly in our community. 🌟 #LawEnforcement #TrafficSafety #HPD #ProudMoment #CommunitySafety #Teamwork #FirstPlace
