    We are beginning renovations for a new and improved Customer Service Department on the first floor of Kannapolis City Hall. As we prepare for the renovations the department will be closed to the public August 29 -September 2. Our pay by phone service will also be unavailable during this time. You are welcome to pay your utility bill using the City Hall kiosk and dropoff box (401 Laureate Way), online bill pay (www.kannapolisnc.gov) or mail your bill. Beginning September 3, the Customer Service Department will resume the paying by phone service but the department will remain closed for in-person payments until the renovations are complete. Thank you for your patience during this time.

    Duke Energy Funds Grants for Downtown Kannapolis Businesses Funded by Duke Energy, this grant project is designed to support small businesses located in downtown Kannapolis. The grants can be used for renovations, equipment, technology, inventory or other assets that will attract customers, grow revenue and better serve the community. Grant amounts will be no larger than $2,500. Business owners will be notified of the outcome by October 31, 2024. Applications are due by midnight on September 20, 2024. Applications will be reviewed and selected by a committee from the Cabarrus Center Entrepreneurship Council. Application Requirements: -Be located in downtown Kannapolis. -Small business support awards will focus on businesses with <50 employees. -Awards can be used for modifying equipment, physical space, improving an e-commerce site for online sales or expanding capacity for delivering goods and services. -Expenditures may include furniture for expanded seating, renovations, accessibility compliance, as well as other equipment or tools needed to successfully grow the small business. -Payroll, rent and utilities are not eligible expenses.     It’s time to play! 🛝☀️ Safrit Park has new playground structures. We have installed two new playground structures at the park – one is for 2- to 5-year-olds. The second one is for 2- to 12-year-olds. Each has ADA components and is easily accessible at the park which is located at 1415 Bethpage Road.

    Coming to downtown Kannapolis this weekend? Catch a ride on one of the FREE West Avenue Express Shuttles this Thursday, Friday or Saturday for the Cannon Ballers homestand! 🚌 The shuttles will run from 5 – 10 p.m. 📆 The two West Avenue Express shuttles run on electricity, can accommodate 16 people and are ADA accessible. The two shuttles, nicknamed Lightning and Thunder, will make a continuous loop between four designated stops: the North Carolina Research Campus public parking deck, top of the horseshoe, and the First Baptist Church rear access area, all on N. Research Campus Drive and the intersection of West Avenue and Cannon Baller Way near the Swanee Theatre. Look for the signage designating the express stops.
