Over the past 5 years, Clearloop has been accelerating decarbonization with a mission to promote equitable access to clean energy, which is why we're thrilled to release our jointly authored white paper with WattTime.org. https://bit.ly/4e47Q66 In this paper, we explore the inequities of the American grid and their implications for carbon accounting, decarbonization strategy, and environmental justice. The paper shows how the cleanest parts of our country's electricity grid have emissions comparable to Finland or New Zealand, while the most carbon-intense regions are comparable to Iraq or South Africa. We argue that recognizing and confronting these inequities is essential to both accelerating decarbonization and advancing environmental and economic equity.   #Emissionality #Equity #ClimateAction

Congratulations to our partner Vanderbilt University on winning three Stevie Awards for sustainability work and for People, Culture and Belonging. Vanderbilt has been awarded Silver in the category of Achievement in Environment, Social and Government, for the university's commitment to carbon neutrality, and both Silicon Ranch Corporation and Clearloop are proud to have supportred Vanderbilt in their pursuit of sustainable business practices. Clearloop's Brownsville and Panola Solar Projects in Tennessee and Mississippi, respectively, will help Vanderbilt to reclaim its carbon footprint while powering local homes and businesses with affordable, reliable, and renewable energy. Silicon Ranch's Vanderbilt I Solar Farm provides access to clean energy for locals in Bedford County, Tennessee, while offsetting approximately 70 percent of the university’s annual indirect greenhouse gas emissions. Clearloop wants to spread the word about #emissionality at SXSW with the help of our friends at WattTime.org, Rivian, and the Panola Partnership, but we need your help to get there. Vote for our panel, "Holding Carbon Accounting Accountable," for free at the link below, and give us the support we need to share the good news about how conscientious and data-driven community engagement can change the way we see the #energytransition. Voting closes August 18th, so click through now! Speaking on our panel will be Co-founder and CEO of Clearloop, Laura Zapata, alongside Laura Corso, VP of Strategic Growth at WattTime; Joe Azar, Director of the Panola Partnership; and Andrew Peterman, Director of Advanced Energy Solutions for Rivian. This panel will outline how emissionality, a measurement of the relative benefits of a renewable energy project based on location, can help site solar projects in areas where they have the most economic, environmental, and health impact. Vote for "Holding Carbon Accountable" here: https://lnkd.in/e7zZarYz #MakingSolarDoMore

Silicon Ranch has put together a fantastic panel for SXSW, but we need your help to make it on stage. Help us spread the word about #agrivoltaics by voting at the link below. Voting is free and closes on August 18. You're just a couple of clicks away from making the difference! Our panel, "Shepherding The Future: Agriculture and the Energy Transition," will feature our friends and leading regenerative farmers, Roxanne Newton of Hound River Farm and Will Harris of White Oak Pastures, along with our Chief Operating Officer, Boris Schubert, and the Senior Manager of Regenerative Energy Operations, Jim Malooley. The panel will highlight the benefits of the dual use of land for solar and agriculture (agrivoltaics), with Silicon Ranch’s use of managed grazing sheep to control the vegetation under and around solar arrays as a model. Vote for the "Shepherding The Future" panel here: https://lnkd.in/eF62XJer #MakingSolarDoMore

Clearloop partners with companies of all sizes to decarbonize the grid by expanding access to solar energy in American communities where the greatest economic and environmental benefits can be achieved. Using the Economic Innovation Group's Distressed Communities Index (DCI) allows us access to a fuller picture of different communities across the country, enabling us in turn to build our projects in areas where we can make the biggest economic and ecological impact for the better. Learn more about how we use the Distressed Communities Index by exploring the case study linked below. https://lnkd.in/eQ9XJABM #MakingSolarDoMore

The communities that could benefit most from access to clean energy are often left behind. Clearloop is changing that by partnering with companies to expand access to solar energy in underserved American communities. Using our Distressed Communities Index (DCI), Clearloop identifies economically distressed areas–such as Panola County, Mississippi–to bring long-term environmental, economic, and social benefits through clean energy investments. 🌞 Project Highlight: Panola County, MS 🌞 Clearloop's three pioneering solar projects in Panola County, MS, will: ✔ Power 3,000 homes with clean energy ✔ Prevent over 1 billion pounds of carbon emissions ✔ Engage local construction and maintenance services ✔ Upgrade local distribution lines ✔ Foster meaningful relationships between corporate partners and the community Clearloop's work is a great example of how clean energy investments can uplift communities that stand to benefit the most, and EIG’s DCI is helping to ensure that their projects create optimal economic, environmental, and health impacts by prioritizing where new solar projects are located. We're entering the final week of Clearloop's 2024 summer internship program, and there's no better time to celebrate and thank the wonderful interns we've had the good fortune to work with this summer. Emma Beganovic is a college senior and a Community Partnerships Intern at Clearloop pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science with minors in Sustainability & Public Health from American University. A proud first-generation Bosnian-American born to refugee parents, Emma aspires through her work to empower distressed and marginalized communities with the tools they need for healthier, more sustainable lives. Also a Community Partnerships Intern, Hayden Davidson is a junior at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Climate Studies and Human & Organizational Development. He's driven to do work that stimulates positive change and a better future by helping both people and the planet. Manda Li, a recent graduate from Vanderbilt University with a Master's in Computer Science, has been Clearloop's Data Analytics Intern this summer. Contributing to the expansion of renewable energy has helped her see the balance between technological evolution and sustainability, and to understand how we can develop our economy with minimal emissions. Meg Waite was a Commercial Partnerships Intern at Clearloop this summer. She's a junior at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with hopes to become a climate tech founder working to shift rural communities from fossil fuels in materials R&D while improving soil and watershed health. Meg is a first-generation non-traditional student with disabilities, and has 10 years of experience including in the outdoor industry, as a seasonal worker for the Bureau of Land Management, as an artist, and as a startup consultant. Last, but not least, is Zakaria Maaieh, a Commercial Partnerships intern of Jordanian and Palestinian-American heritage. Zakaria is a senior studying the Political Economy of Sustainability at Vanderbilt University and is passionate about building a just society that will last long into the future. We couldn't be more grateful to have had these fantastic interns on the Clearloop team this summer, and we're excited to support each of them as they move into their next chapter. #MakingSolarDoMore

Check out these video highlights from Clearloop's Flip the Switch Ceremony in Panola County, Mississippi, earlier this summer. From live music by Steve Azar, the unveiling of a new county logo featuring solar panels, and many other memorable moments with our partners and neighbors, we enjoyed celebrating the completion of the Panola I and II Solar Farms, marking the first solar projects in the county. These solar projects, and a third coming online in the fall, will prevent over 1 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere and generate enough renewable, cost-effective energy to power approximately 3,000 area homes annually. Developed in partnership with Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association (TVEPA), the Panola Partnership, and over 30 companies of all sizes working to reclaim their carbon footprint, these innovative solar projects will also help promote economic development and attract new businesses to the community. #MakingSolarDoMore #CleanEnergy #Mississippi https://lnkd.in/gvYawrv5
