With scorching temperatures persisting globally, the importance of more efficient, climate-friendly cooling cannot be underestimated. While super-efficient cooling technologies with better dehumidification performance exist, more work is needed to bring these innovations to market and ensure our future cooling demands can be met without exacerbating the climate crisis. Fortunately, the Global Cooling Efficiency Accelerator is working on establishing the right pre-conditions to address several supply and demand barriers to make these products commercially available. Learn more about the need for super-efficient cooling and the Global Cooling Efficiency Accelerator in RMI's latest blog ➡ https://lnkd.in/euPvQN7Q #SuperEfficientCooling #SustainableCooling #ClimateCooling #GlobalCoolingEfficiencyAccelerator #ActOnCooling #ClimateAction #ClimateMitigation #ClimateAdaptation #ExtremeHeat #HeatWave #ClimateResilience #EnergyEfficiency

📣 Exciting news! ClimateWorks Foundation’s Drive Electric report was featured in a recent Inside Philanthropy article, spotlighting summer must-reads for climate grantmakers and other funders. Michael Kavate highlights the focused direction of funding: "60% of the campaign’s funding went to work on freight trucks, up from just under half of all funding the year before. That is nearly four times what went to the next-largest category, cars, which received 16% in 2023, down by almost half from the year before." 📚 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gfYsfFZf #ClimateAction #SummerReading

On June 25, in partnership with ClimateWorks Foundation, we hosted a workshop to explore the current scope, role, and impacts of green technology and finance in the #GlobalSouth. The event emphasized the role of the #G20, particularly India's recent #G20 presidency, and the potential for partnerships between the Global North and #GlobalSouth to create secure, diversified clean energy supply chains. Great to be joined by stakeholders from the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of the Treasury, The White House, Silverado Policy Accelerator, Center on Global Energy Policy, Government of Barbados, The African Climate Foundation, and G20 India. Last week was the launch of CarbonCapture Inc.'s first-of-its-kind U.S. direct air capture system designed for large-scale production. Our own Senior Director Jan Mazurek, PhD spoke about climate innovations and global climate goals at the launch. ⬇️ 📣
Last Friday, we debuted our LEO Series DAC module. We were overwhelmed by the excitement and support we received from our attendees and speakers from all sides of the political spectrum who all believe one thing—we need to remove CO2 from the atmosphere to meet our climate goals. We’d like to extend our deepest appreciation to our speakers: Bill Gross, Chairman and Co-founder, CarbonCapture Inc. Brad Crabtree, Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Nick Ellis, Principal, Amazon Climate Pledge Fund Jan Mazurek, PhD, Senior Director, Aviation and Carbon Dioxide Removal, ClimateWorks Foundation J.T. Larson, Wyoming State Representative Steven Cliff, Ph.D., Executive Officer, California Air Resources Board Chris Camacho, President & CEO, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) Neil Chatterjee, former Chairman of FERC and Board Member of CarbonCapture Inc. Adrian Corless, CEO, CarbonCapture Inc. And a massive shoutout to our event emcee, Christopher Neidl, Co-founder, The OpenAir Collective and Board Member, Direct Air Capture Coalition. For some highlights from a few of our speakers’ remarks, check out Politico’s Blanca Begert’s coverage of the day's activities (t.ly/e_ORC). Stay tuned for more footage from our event.

We are wrapping up our field visits in India with our partner the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA). We have learned so much about the way the Women’s Climate Shock Insurance & Livelihoods Initiative (WCS) has impacted the lives and livelihoods of the 50,000 participants and SEWA members. Through roundtables and visits with members in their place of work or their homes, we now understand better the health effects of heat and the exponential and long-lasting chain of harm and income loss. We also learned how much the two forms of financial support (cash assistance and insurance payouts) meant to their physical and mental health, food security, children's education, medical expenses, and sense of dignity and self-respect. SEWA reports that membership in the union is growing in part due to the benefits of WCS and this includes significant aspects of financial inclusion. Word is getting around! We look forward to sharing more about their stories of strength, ingenuity, and resilience, the learning from the entire program, and the quantification of benefits and impacts. Thank you to SEWA's wonderful leadership and team for your wisdom and hospitality - and to our supporters ClimateWorks Foundation, Howden Foundation, Prudence Foundation, Quadrature Climate Foundation, and Swiss Re. Special thanks to Rachel Kyte, Emma Howard Boyd CBE, and Veronica Scotti. Christina Stanton, Kathy Baughman McLeod, Mary McBryde, Geraldine Henrich-Koenis
