On Monday this week attended The Global Fund Grant Signing Ceremony at KEMSA in Embakasi. The Kenyan government signed six Global Fund grants totaling $407,989,068 (Sh 59.7 billion) for the Cycle 7 period. This took place during a Grant Signing Ceremony at KEMSA in Embakasi.
From the total amount, $232,580,654 (Sh30 billion) will be allocated to HIV programs, $72,934,665 (Sh9.4 billion) to malaria initiatives, $67,785,529 (Sh8.7 billion) to tuberculosis efforts, and $34,688,220 (Sh4.4 billion) to strengthening health systems.
Mark Edington the Head of Grant Management at Global Fund said the grants aim to reduce malaria incidence and deaths by at least 75 percent by 2027, enhance health systems at both facility and community levels, and procure necessary commodities for TB, malaria, and HIV, including drugs, laboratory supplies, and test kits.
CMMB Kenya showcased its community-based interventions at the event through an exhibition booth. Two Community Health Promoters from Makueni explained their detailed approaches to TB prevention and handling suspected cases in their communities. Additionally, Rose Anyango, a PMTCT Expert Mother and paralegal based in Migori working with CMMB, discussed CMMB's interventions in reducing HIV cases.
