Is your school equipping teachers to empower students? 🔑 In this article Sean Roberts, VP at Code.org, highlights the power of teacher development in expanding access to Computer Science education 🔑 “What we have found is that teachers know how to teach, period. Really, what’s important is that we are giving them the vocabulary and context to teach these important skills,” he said. 🍎 “Algorithms are really sequencing. Kindergarten teachers are doing that already and know how to teach sequencing and teach it well. Debugging is problem solving, we have teachers doing that in every subject area.” Read the following article to learn how you can empower teachers to unlock the potential of every student! https://lnkd.in/g5H2zXHu

my amazing sister Claire Walmsley is a teacher who is incredibly passionate about learning and teaching code and does inclusive classroom practice, adapting lessons so everyone can feel a sense of achievement. She is constantly improving her own understanding so she can support and challenge her children. They all now enjoy computing because she is the specialist teacher. I'm very proud of her for championing such a vital topic in primary school which I believe isn't taught often and early enough! #CodeOrgCSEnterprise

Save this post to anchor your week with ⚓ To build a solid foundation in #AI, understanding fundamental #computerscience principles is essential. Thanks for sharing your experience with us Pat Yongpradit

At a recent UNESCO event, I learned that Armenia, Brazil, China, Singapore, and S. Korea are all advancing AI literacy. What do they have in common? Computer science (CS) is already mandatory. Yet, only 11 US states have a CS graduation requirement. AI literacy builds on mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, and CS. The difference is that kids in the US can go from K through 12 without learning any CS. In the US, we see adopting a single-credit CS grad requirement as a monumental feat. The reality is that it is just a basic expectation in an age of AI. AI literacy without a foundational CS experience is like building a house on sand. Without a basic understanding of computing principles, any AI knowledge gained lacks the depth needed for true understanding. #TeachAI on a foundation of CS

In celebrating #StarTrekDay, I would love to highlight on of my colleagues. In the final frontier of education, Amber Gonzalez boldly goes where few elementary librarians have gone before! She transforms her classroom into a holodeck of wonder and adventure, guiding young cadets through uncharted territories of physical computing, circuits, LEDs, coding, and art. 💡✨ With every blinking LED and coded sequence, Amber equips her students with the skills they need to thrive in this ever-evolving galaxy. A true life-long learner, she embodies the spirit of exploration—constantly seeking new ways to inspire young minds to think beyond the stars. 🌟👩🚀 #CodeOrgCSEnterprise #minecraftedu #playcraftlearn #ISTEStandards CodeJoy LLC Micro:bit Educational Foundation BirdBrain Technologies Minecraft Education

I am so grateful to announce that I have been accepted as a Young Women CS ambassador for Code.org ! One of the main goals of this program is to further include young women and girls in the conversation of Computer Science—a subject that touches upon numerous fields including medicine, entertainment, entrpreneurship, and many more, yet is only taken by 5% of high school aged young women. As a CS ambassador, I will be helping expand access to computer science education as well as host workshops and community events in order to further involve the young girls in my local area through the ever-growing realm of Computer Science. If you’re interested in learning more about the program itself or are thinking about applying, I highly recommend you check out their website: https://lnkd.in/gCTAqSiD I am excited for our kick-off meeting next week and look forward to the vast opportunities I can bring to my community.
