🚀 Big shoutout to Code2College AI Demo Day Team ASL Translator— Samantha, Aidan, Xavier, and Yodahie —who showcased their incredible skills at the Code2College AI Demo Day! 🧠 Their project wasn't just about coding; it was about innovation and impact. They developed a groundbreaking generative AI solution that integrates neural networks, machine learning, and large language models to recognize ASL signs and teach users in real-time. 💻 The team built an interactive, video-based UI using various technologies including JavaScript and Python, guiding users through different ASL signs with a focus on enhancing user experiences. They also managed GitHub repositories and adhered to ethical AI practices, ensuring responsible data use throughout their project. 👏🏿 Kudos to this talented group for their hard work and dedication! #STEM #MachineLearning #Teamwork

Internships are not just a conversion tactic. At least they should be. Beyond the explicit benefit for employers to build their talent pipelines, mentorship is truly at the heart of a quality internship program. In fact, mentorship is one of the key reasons that companies hire our high school interns. As an aside, we call the companies who hire our high school interns “Visionary Partners’ because of the momentous step they take in seeing internships as much more than a hiring tactic. High school interns gain valuable insights on industry best practices and unfamiliar sectors. Further (and less discussed), mentors build their capacity to teach, coach and empathize. In this week’s feature, we’re sharing a blog from the Together Platform: “Mentoring interns: Helping future top talent grow” And shout out to our Visionary Partners for the tremendous investment they’re making in the future of both their companies and the entire technical ecosystem. Check out the article: https://lnkd.in/gPqkCmFS #STEM #highschoolinternships #mentor

Our inaugural Code2College AI Demo Day was amazing! A rousing success! A movie! 🎥 Four of our Summer 2024 High School interns kicked off the day with a recap of their respective Summer projects. Each of our interns absolutely blew the audience away with their poise, confidence and the clear business impact that they drove for their teams. * Maya Villa (C2C '24) spent her Summer as a Cybersecurity Intern at Silicon Labs * Zion Onwujuba (C2C '22) returned this Summer as a Software Engineering Intern to Arrive Logistics * Sapphire Hunter (C2C '24) spent her Summer as a Front-End Web Development Intern at YETI * Chris Castillo (C2C '23) returned this Summer as a iOS Engineering Intern at H-E-B Following the Summer Intern Showcase, the crowd prepared for the Main Event: AI Demo Day. This Spring, we developed our first AI curriculum and admitted a small cohort of 20 students: our inaugural class of AI Developer Fellows. These Code2College students had completed our 15-month program and were not hired for an internship opportunity. We approached them about an opportunity to spend their Summer learning AI and developing a marketable project. Each of the five teams developed incredible apps ranging from a piano tutor to an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. And while all of our teams delivered impressive pitches, our ASL Interpreter team left as the Winners of our AI Demo Day competition. Huge thanks to Mark McClain (CEO & Founder, SailPoint) for his longtime support and rousing keynote address; Thanks to our illustrious panel of Executive judges (who absolutely added an air of gravity and intentionality for our AI Developer Fellows): * Tyson Tuttle (Founder and CEO, Circuit), * Heidi Marquez Smith (CEO, Texas Cultural Trust), * Morgan Flager (Managing Partner, Silverton Partners) and * Jan Ryan (The University of Texas at Austin Faculty & Serial Entrepreneur) Thank you to all of the parents, partners, advisory board members, Code2College staff, volunteers, funders and school administrators who joined us in the audience. And most of all, thank you so much to H-E-B and Favor Delivery for welcoming us into their beautiful Eastside Tech Hub campus! #AI #impact #collegeaccess #STEM #diversityintech

Cirrus Logic has been a true champion of our mission since 2017. In 2023 alone, Cirrus Logic volunteers contributed an impressive 383 hours, bringing their total volunteer hours to over 1,200 to date! 🎉 We’re proud to partner with a leader in the #Semiconductor space and expose our students to an industry that is so critical to their everyday lives. For the last several years, Cirrus Logic has hosted a rousing HackTogether competition where teams are comprised of both students and Cirrus Logic engineers who develop a working product by the end of a workshop day. In fact, in 2023, Cirrus Logic received the most student votes to win the 2023 Workshop of the Year award for their Hispanic Heritage Month HackTogether event. And internships, don’t get us started on the Cirrus Logic internships! Since 2018, Cirrus Logic has been hosting our high school interns and affording life-changing experiences through work-based learning (and earning). Cheers for one of our deepest and longest-standing partners, Cirrus Logic, for all of their investment and impact in the community with us! #STEM #highschoolinternships #collegeaccess
