The 2024 Point-in-Time Count took place on January 30, 2024, and today we are releasing the report findings with survey data.   The PIT Count conducted every two years, is a critical snapshot of people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in our community and is useful for measuring trends over time. While this one-night snapshot report is essential, it does not always account for the changes, investments, and innovations happening locally. Highlights: ~Between the 2022 and 2024 Point in Time Counts, the city helped people exit homelessness at a faster rate than ever before. ~Over 7,500 clients exited homelessness from January 2022 to January 2024 through Permanent Supportive Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and Housing Problem Solving interventions. ~The City of San Francisco provided emergency financial assistance for over 7,000 households at risk of homelessness through Prevention programs. The 2024 San Francisco AI Robotics Youth program concluded on Friday, July 26. The size of this year's student cohort is twice that of last year's; and they have twice the hands-on learning fun. Our cohort also operated $500,000 worth of fleet of the latest commercial robots during their tech visit to the Silicon Valley. In the final survey, 88% (56% + 32%) of the cohort responded they will pursue or explore AI Robotics careers due to attending this program. They are the future movers and shakers in the AI robotics field, at the nexus where AI ecosystem (San Francisco) and robotics ecosystem (Silicon Valley) meet. Only in the San Francisco bay area. Compared to their perception of AI robotics in the beginning of this program, their one-word description of AI Robotics now includes "innovative", "bleeding edge", "fascinating", etc. The larger the font size, the more students responded by using that word. This year our teachers include c-execs with track records from dynamic startups Formant, InOrbit.AI and mega techs such as NVIDIA, Amazon Lab126, Microsoft, Apple, IBM, etc.; from leading universities such as MIT School of Engineering, India Institute of Technology, University of Cambridge, Yale University, @University of Surrey, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, etc. Overall, an unmitigated success for our students, their parents, the city of San Francisco, and our nonprofit and industry partners.
