Join us in celebrating the latest graduates of the Career Technical Initiative (CTI) at Monty Tech! Montachusett Regional Vocational School (Monty Tech) has proudly equipped 53 program participants with valuable skills in Carpentry, HVAC, and Plumbing, funded through CTI, a grant program administered by Commonwealth Corporation under the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD), CTI grant partners with vocational high schools to offer adult learners, especially those unemployed, underemployed, or from underserved and underrepresented communities, the career training and technical skills needed by Massachusetts employers. This transformative program turns vocational high schools across the Commonwealth into “Career Technical Institutes,” running shifts after school hours to provide skill-building programs in construction, trades, manufacturing, and various career pathways. Workforce development and vocational training are essential for creating opportunities and meeting the evolving needs of our economy. Thank you, Monty Tech and partners, for training our workforce!

BIG NEWS 🎉: The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced this week $15.9 million in workforce development grant funding for 22 initiatives across Massachusetts, representing partnerships with employers, training providers, and regional collaborators. This latest round of workforce development funding will train, upskill, and provide job placement for 2,182 workers for in-demand occupations in health care, human services, life sciences, culinary arts, and more. This announced investments in Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success grants are funded by The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) and administered by Commonwealth Corporation through the state’s Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund. Each awarded grant aims to close the skills gap, increase access to well-paying jobs for unemployed and underemployed residents, and strengthen productivity and workforce needs among employers in regions throughout Massachusetts. Secretary Lauren Jones of Labor and Workforce Development, and Commonwealth Corporation President and CEO Molly Jacobson announced awarded grants at Snapchef in Springfield. Among the 22 grantees, Snapchef plans to train, upskill, and provide employment for 168 in Culinary Professional roles. This week, our Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund paid a special visit to Catholic Charities, El Centro, to meet with program participants and learn firsthand how these programs are upskilling the workforce. As part of a longer strategy to better serve the Commonwealth, WCTF is hosting a series of focus groups visiting grantees across the state. These sessions aim to inform our work and gather data-driven insights on how our programs can positively impact lives. El Centro has received several WCTF Donnelly Grants to train individuals for positions in Information Technology, Nursing Assistance, Home Health Aide, and more.

WTFP Program Manager Abby Corsun-Ascher and CommCorp Vice President of Sector Pathways Tom Hooper recently joined Remtec for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of their newly renovated facilities in Canton, MA! 🎉 Founded in 1990, Remtec has been a leader in advanced ceramic packaging technology, serving the electronics industry with high-power and circuit-density applications. Over the past three decades, they've excelled in providing plated copper on thick and thin-film ceramic substrates, chip carriers, packages, and submounts for laser diodes, photodiodes, and LEDs. Upskilling their workforce, Remtec has been providing Leadership Development, Technical Skills, and IT training for their staff funded by grants through WTFP. This event celebrated a significant milestone, acknowledged the hard work that made the move from their longtime Norwood plant possible, and launched Remtec into a bright future as a provider of sophisticated electronic solutions.
