About us

Community Servings is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses, like HIV/AIDS, Cancer, MS, Lou Gehrig’s disease and more than 30 others. We provide our clients, and their dependent families and caregivers with nutritious, made-from-scratch meals and send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity and preserve the integrity of their families through free, culturally appropriate, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, and other community programs.

We are excited to announce that we have been selected as a grantee in the inaugural cohort of Merck’s new Solutions for Healthy Communities global grant program – the company's $7M investment in innovative community-led solutions to advance equitable access to health around the world.   This funding is supporting Community Servings as we continue to work toward our goal of integrating the medically tailored meal model into healthcare, in Massachusetts and nationally. We are grateful to Merck for their ongoing commitment to our mission of expanding access to medically tailored meals!   Fellow grantees represent over two dozen countries and share a common belief in the power of community to drive change. Together, our goal is to reduce barriers to equitable care by empowering patients and families, building the capacity of local health workers and strengthening community-led health systems.   Thank you, Merck! #communityservings

What a perfect late summer evening at our annual Summer Garden Party! Surrounded by dedicated, longtime supporters and a few new faces, we celebrated our community's unwavering commitment to our mission.   With immense pride and gratitude, we honored Mark Lippolt, Barbara, and Jim Conen with the Community Servings LifeSavor award, taking a moment to recognize their remarkable contributions to the agency and Pie In the Sky, our annual Thanksgiving fundraising bake sale.   For over 20 years, Mark Lippolt has been a pillar of our community. His leadership, from serving as Board Chair to co-chairing our Board of Advisors, has been instrumental in our growth. His dedication to Pie in the Sky is unmatched, leading teams, hosting one of the largest pie distribution locations, and volunteering tirelessly in our kitchen.    Barbara and Jim Conen have been at the heart of Pie in the Sky for over two decades, consistently ranking as top sellers. Their annual phone calls to family and friends to reserve pies have become a welcomed holiday tradition. Their support has spanned two capital campaigns, numerous events, and countless hours in the kitchen. We're so grateful for their friendship and dedication.   A heartfelt thank you to Mark, Barbara, and Jim for your incredible support and for making our mission your own. ❤️ #CommunityServings

I will never be able to thank my dear friends at Community Servings enough for the incredible honor last night of receiving their annual LifeSavor Award (along with the amazing Barbara and Jim Conen)! Community Servings is one of my life's passions and I have been privileged to help advance the agency's mission of feeding our neighbors with critical illnesses as a kitchen volunteer, pie seller, Board member, Board Treasurer, and Board Chair. And how special to be presented the Award by incoming Board Chair and fellow Saint Cecilia parishioner, Sharon McNally. www.servings.org

Today we're celebrating Manager of Client Services Carolyn Smith, who retires this month after 25 years of service! 🙌 For Carolyn, Community Servings has long meant family. Carolyn would visit the agency back when her mother, Virginia Wilson, was the special diets cook. Carolyn first joined the team as a driver, delivering clients hot meals every day, and then became an assistant delivery coordinator. From there, Carolyn joined Client Services, where she has served as the Manager of Client Services. In this role, Carolyn has had a profound impact on the agency. Client Services is the first point of contact for new clients or their caregivers, clients' primary support any time they need their questions answered. Carolyn also met her husband, Robert “Bobcat” Smith, at Community Servings. Her son, Larry, is the Delivery Operations Manager. Carolyn supported the agency through years of incredible growth, as we went from serving 300 clients a week to 2,500. Please join us in congratulating Carolyn for her incredible contribution! ❤ #CommunityServings
