Just published in Cell: A review paper titled “Spatiotemporal Omics for Biology and Medicine” introduces the technical development and challenges of spatiotemporal omics, and discusses the potential for advancement in various application fields including organ functionality, developmental biology, species evolution, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions. In this paper, the advanced characteristics and broad applications of Stereo-seq and Stereo-CITE (Stereo-CITE-seq) were stated. “The spatial distribution atlas of the entire macaque brain based on the Stereo-seq method is among the largest primate brain cell atlas efforts to date.” STOmics’s Stereo-seq method achieves a nanoscale resolution of 500 nm and large FOV from 1cm*1cm to 13cm*13cm, providing more options for researchers. As for Stereo-CITE, illustrated as “Stereo-CITE-seq can determine the routine diagnostic panels of TTF1, napsin, p63, and cytokeratin for diagnosis, and additional biomarkers like PD-L1, PD-1, CD68, CD45, CD8, and CD3 to determine the eligibility for immune-checkpoint therapy to guide the optimal treatment strategy.” STOmics Stereo-CITE is intended for simultaneous detection of the whole transcriptome and 100+ plex protein on the same tissue section, leading to a broader understanding of spatial omics studies.
