Today, President Joe Biden designated the Springfield 1908 Race Riot National Monument in Illinois. This site fills a critical gap in the National Park System, which previously did not have parks that tell the stories of race riots, the founding of the NAACP, and Ida B. Wells-Barnett. The new monument allows the National Park Service to tell a fuller story of American history and will help advance both racial justice and national healing. Friends Grassroots Network spotlight! 🌟 Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps is making a big impact in the Pueblos of Acoma and Zuni in New Mexico. We're proud to support Ancestral Lands Conservation Corp, a non-profit organization who partners with tribal communities and land managers to accomplish impactful and lasting conservation service projects. Our funding to the ALCC has created opportunities for local Acoma and Zuni youth and young adults to complete conservation projects that support community needs, restore cultural and environmental assets, and provide recreational access.
