This Labor Day, we honor the enduring contributions of American workers, whose dedication and hard work have shaped the nation's strength and prosperity. From the early days of labor activism to the establishment of this national holiday in 1894, the spirit of the American worker continues to drive our economic and social achievements. Today, we celebrate not just a day off, but the people who have built and continue to build the foundation of our nation. Happy Labor Day! #laborday #corosocal

My dear friend, Coro Southern California alumna and CBRE leader Jessica Lall recently authored a powerful call to action, The Power of Civic Partnership, discussing how we can collaborate across boundaries to catalyze change and bring forward solutions to the complex challenges L.A. is facing. At Coro we believe meaningful change comes from collaboration. Leaders in business and government, nonprofits and labor, working courageously across silos to drive innovative solutions to our public challenges. Drawing on her extensive background in public/private partnerships and executive leadership, Jessica offers these key insights: Collective Change: We all play a role in driving meaningful, sustainable change. Solutions lie within our collective human capital. Data-Driven Decisions: Business leaders should lend their resources and industry expertise to empower elected officials to make data-driven decision. Industry Alignment: Dynamic exchange of ideas, influence, and compromise across industries leads to meaningful solutions. Courageous Connections: Let’s have the courage to partner with policy- and decision-makers to drive meaningful progress on complex challenges, regardless of our political differences. I encourage you to give this important piece a read.

After having the privilege to choose from some of the best law schools in the country, I am happy to officially announce that I will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law this fall as an Achievement Fellow and Kenneth L. Karst Scholar! I am in disbelief that I have the opportunity to attend a top law school, but being able to attend on a full-tuition scholarship is something I cannot be more thankful for. I will also be enrolled in the UCLA Law David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law & Policy and Critical Race Studies Program, furthering my interest in public policy and racial justice. I am excited to return to my alma mater and obtain my JD from UCLA, the #1 public university in the nation! It took a village (honesty, more like a small town) to get me here. I want to foremost thank Luis Sotelo and DeVin S. Taylor for your endless support in this process. Also, I was blessed to have attorney mentors Nkem A., Patrick Ntchobo, Wade Formo, Cindy Lopez, Tony Tolbert, and Sharon Wooden in my corner giving constant guidance in this challenging yet rewarding journey. I also want to thank all my Legal Education Access Pipeline, Inc. (LEAP) colleagues, whom I leaned on heavily over the past two years. I must also acknowledge Michael Stallworth, Alondra Ulloa, Blake K., Jannet Gomez, Mary Tran, Edson Sandoval, and all the law students who helped me by answering my endless inquiries about the application process. I want to express my gratitude to Coro Southern California for granting me once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to explore the realm of public policy in Los Angeles and training me for this next step. Thank you to the attorneys at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and the legal counsel and public policy team at Snap Inc. for allowing me to see unique, cunning, and powerful ways to utilize a law degree. I’m also grateful for the programs and resources helping me carve out my career as I move into law school. I want to thank the Eversheds Sutherland Scholars Program for the fantastic and informative time in New York City this past summer, JD Advising, and PracticePro for admission into their 1L programs. I feel very prepared to succeed in law school and beyond. To all the first-generation law students and diverse applicants - don’t give up! The legal field needs diversity now more than ever. Please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions about the process; I want to pay it forward, as so many amazing people have done for me. #UCLA #UCLALaw #GoBruins #LawSchool #GradSchool
