In the wake of the devastating floods that struck Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil in May, affecting thousands of residents and causing widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and the agricultural sector, Corteva stepped up to support the affected communities with a donation of US$100,000 to a local NGO partner, Foco Empreendedor. Additionally, the company donated 2,500 bags of seeds to support local agriculture, which was severely impacted and represents a key driver of the local economy in the state. Corteva's commitment went beyond financial aid. Motivated by a spirit of solidarity and compassion, employees in Brazil volunteered over 2,000 hours to assist local communities. Their efforts were crucial in distributing 6 tons of essential supplies, including food, hygiene products, cleaning materials, water, and clothing. By partnering with Foco Empreendedor and engaging in employee volunteer efforts, Corteva aims to support relief efforts and aid those affected by the floods in Brazil. The goal is to provide practical assistance and help foster resilience during this challenging time.

"The wide gap between agricultural service providers and farmers has created an information deficit. This deficit can be bridged by using advanced digital tools for farmer advisory. These tools have revolutionized the ways farmers approach pest and disease management. Digital calculators assist farmers in making more informed decisions regarding applying pesticides and fungicides for their crops. Effective crop protection requires the right data insights to support evidence-based choices and help farmers make informed decisions." - Dr. Malvika Choudhary, Regional Coordinator for Asia at Plantwise, Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International.
