About us

Corus International is an ensemble of long-serving, global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance committed to ending poverty and building healthy communities across Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Africa. Made up of several non-profit and for-profit organizations – Lutheran World Relief, IMA World Health, CGA Technologies, Ground Up Investing, and Farmers Market Brands – the Corus family's global networks expand wide and our local partnerships run deep. Alongside communities and local partners in fragile settings, Corus' dedicated experts across the family of organizations integrate disciplines, approaches and resources to overcome global health challenges, develop productive and stable economies, improve resilience in the face of climate change, and respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. With the support of our family's diverse set of partners and funding – from multi- and bilateral institutions and foundations to the private sector and individuals – we invest in solutions that are innovative, scalable, holistic and move the needle towards transformational change. Our dedicated experts around the globe work together to bring life-saving aid and long-term hope to even the most fragile corners of the world and in the most challenging of circumstances. We connect disciplines, approaches and people because we know that the more collaboration we can efficiently achieve, the wider, more systemic impact we can create. It’s belief and action, in harmony.

💡 Corus organization Lutheran World Relief promotes mental health support by providing information and professional guidance to young people in Honduras who need it most. Last year, we launched EmpleandoMentes, a digital platform designed to address topics such as emotional intelligence, mental illness, emotional support, soft skills and more. 🚀 Through the platform, we recently ran the "Proyectate SaludableMente" contest which engaged youth in conversations about the importance of mental health. Youth aged between 15 and 29 created powerful 30-second videos to communicate important messages about mental and emotional health, resilience, and the importance of seeking professional help when needed. 👏 Congratulations to all the brilliant minds that participated! How is climate-smart agriculture transforming lives in Nepal? Meet Nageswor Chaudhary and discover how he's cultivating a sustainable future. 🌱 https://bit.ly/3YcDRTJ Nageswor and his wife, Ram Bati Chaudhary, once struggled to support their family. "To provide food, clothes, education for the children, we were really struggling with that," Nageswor shared. That changed when Nageswor joined trainings with Corus organization Lutheran World Relief. Facing heavy flooding risks during monsoon season, he learned techniques to build financial resilience and mitigate the impacts of climate change. He and Ram now grow tomatoes in hanging bottles and cultivate a diverse array of crops like cauliflower, turnips, marigolds, mustard greens and more. With a greenhouse, they can cultivate off-season crops and sell them at higher prices. The farm has expanded to six times its original size. Nageswor and Ram are not only meeting the family's needs but also inspiring other local farmers through their success. 💪 #Nepal #Resilience #ClimateChange #Agriculture #DisasterRiskReduction #DRR #ClimateSmart #ClimateSmartAgriculture #CSA

Humanitarian work often comes with considerable risk, yet it is vital for those in need. Currently, nearly 15 million people in Ukraine require humanitarian assistance. Over 4,000 dedicated humanitarian workers, including project managers, drivers, and engineers, are on the ground ensuring access to essential aid and services. Last year alone, amid daily dangers, 35 humanitarian workers were injured, and 11 lost their lives while responding to critical needs. On this World Humanitarian Day, we stand alongside numerous humanitarian organizations to honor the fallen workers and reaffirm our commitment to helping Ukrainians in need: https://lnkd.in/dKyzUqnv Humanitarian workers like Tetyana Medvid, our gender-based violence (GBV) and protection specialist in Ukraine, are delivering vital aid and services to millions affected by the war, both in frontline areas and throughout Ukraine. Let’s honor their courage and dedication today and every day. #Ukraine #ActForHumanity #StrongerTogether #HumanitariansOfUkraine #UkraineHumanitarians #HumanitariansStandWithUkraine #HumanitariansSupportUkrainiansInNeed #WorldHumanitarianDay

Fun fact: the eggplant is known as the “King of Vegetables” in South Asian countries like India and Nepal. But this beautiful crop is actually a FRUIT. (And, if we’re going to be exact, it’s classified as a berry. 🤯) Whether you call it a fruit or a vegetable — or an eggplant or an aubergine or a brinjal — this powerhouse food is rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. And for farmer Baleswor Mehta and his wife Sunita Devi Mahato, it’s been a life-changing source of income. Since swapping their rice fields for eggplant, they have nearly quadrupled their income. Baleswor says, “Before, it was not enough for the family. We were trying to make ends meet.” But thanks to eggplant, “I was able to help one of daughters get married. I took care of my mother's last rites. I didn't have a proper house back then. Now, I have built a newer durable house.” What more could you ask for on National Eggplant Day?

Across Latin America, a quiet transformation is underway in regions where cacao trees stretch as far as the eye can see. This change doesn’t involve upheavals or conflicts but a small, powerful tool that fits right in the palm of a farmer’s hand—a mobile app designed to revolutionize the cacao industry from the ground up. This breakthrough involves an app called Cacao Movil, as simple to use as it is effective. Developed specifically for cacao farmers, the app serves as a bridge between traditional farming techniques and modern technology. 📱 Explore more about how we use cutting-edge technology to create a more agile and sustainable cacao sector. https://lnkd.in/eCGXGudW. 💡 Pictured: Corus organization Lutheran World Relief staff member Gabriela Lagos shows cacao producer José German Cruz Díaz tips for using the Cacao Movil app on his farm in Usulután, El Salvador. #Cocoa #Cacao #Technology #TechnologyForDevelopment #Agriculture #Livelihoods #Innovation #LatinAmerica
