As this week comes to an end, we wanted to give an enormous shout out and thank you to all of our wonderful nursing assistants! This past week was Nursing Assistants week and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all of the nursing assistants at Cottage! Those of us who have worked as or know those who do work as LNAs understand how hard each of you work and the amount of care you put into what you do. We are sent so many nice notes about the care our patients received and many of them stem from what each of you! Hello Cottage Community! We would like you to meet one of our recently graduated registered nurses, and the first new grad to start our residency program, Kristina Gaines! We are so excited to have her join our team and begin her career here at Cottage. Kristina Gaines is from our local area and went to White Mountains Community College to finish her degree this past spring. Last week the Emergency Department held an Emergency Preparedness Fair. To make things more fun, we implemented a little contest. Departments across Cottage Hospital put together poster presentations about different protocols they would take in case of an emergency. Happy Monday Everyone and ConGRADulations to all of our local High School Graduates! We wish you all the best with your future endeavors! Over the weekend, Cottage Hospital gave out 2 scholarships to graduating seniors looking to pursue careers in nursing. Hailey Wheeler from Lisbon Regional School, and Kate Vasconcelos from Woodsville High School each received the $500 Elisabeth M. Berry Scholarship for aspiring nurses. This Scholarship was created by the Cottage Hospital Board of Trustees in Memory if Dr. Elisabeth Berry for her many years of service to Cottage Hospital. To be eligible to receive this scholarship, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the health and wellbeing of our community, be of superior scholastic ability, and be accepted at an accredited program in the nursing field. We can't wait to see what you both accomplish!
