To commemorate our new status as the global provider of the Arena-flow Sand Core Engineering CAE software, on this #SimulationFriday, CPFD Software would like to share this video, which demonstrates the filling of an automotive cylinder head water jacket core produced via an amine-cured cold-box process. Arena-flow was used to simulate how core filling was influenced by core geometry, blow tubes, venting and core machine settings. The software predicted the presence of difficult to fill locations in the intricate pattern-forming surfaces in the water passages, and how the unbalance sand and air flow contributed to the issue. Arena-flow was subsequently used to identify and implement a more robust solution before implementation at the foundry. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a $5.4M grant to support a groundbreaking steel production pilot project that has the potential to eliminate up to 60 million tons of CO2 from U.S. crude steel production. This approach harnesses #hydrogen derived from methane pyrolysis as a reducing agent for the production of carbon neutral steel. At CPFD Software, we are collaborating with #USSteel and Molten Industries on this innovative First-of-a-Kind (#FOAK) project.
