“When children have essential school supplies and necessities like clothing and shoes, they can go back to school with self-confidence, excitement, and dignity. If kids’ basic needs aren’t met, the long-term effects can be devastating.” -Lynn Margherio, Cradles to Crayons Founder and CEO 👕👖👟 Three of the top 10 reasons kids don't go to school are rooted in Clothing Insecurity—or, simply put, they don't have access to the clothing essentials they need to succeed. 🎒 ✏ 📒 This back-to-school season, alongside thousands of packages of clothing, Cradles to Crayons will also provide 252,000 backpacks filled with supplies so kids can be ready to learn from head to toe. Our annual Ready for Learning initiative focuses on preparing our youngest learners before the very first day. And our signature Backpack-A-Thon® events in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Wilmington, DE, bring more than 2,000 corporate and individual team volunteers together to pack thousands of backpacks in just a few hours! Clothing Insecurity is a national crisis that impacts more than 20 million U.S. children every day. As Lynn points out, "...the long-term effects can be devastating." But the solution can be easy—join Cradles to Crayons and help us #EndClothingInsecurity this back-to-school season and beyond. #ClothingInsecurity #backtoschool #children #poverty #dignity #backpackathon #readyforlearning #cradlestocrayons #clothingaccess #clothingneed #CSR #ESG #corporate #corporateengagement #volutneer https://lnkd.in/ePxXWv7X

It's Disability Pride Month! We are answering the question, "What is Disability Inclusion?" Including people with disabilities in everyday activities and encouraging them to have roles similar to their peers who do not have a disability is disability inclusion. It's not just about encouragement—it's about ensuring policies and practices foster true inclusion. This leads to increased participation in socially expected roles, like being a student, worker, friend, community member, patient, spouse, partner, or parent. Inclusion allows everyone to engage in social activities, use public resources, move freely within communities, receive adequate healthcare, build relationships, and enjoy everyday life. That's why Cradles to Crayons believes that everyone deserves to grow up in an accessible society and proud to be their whole, authentic selves. This month, we encourage our supporters to learn more about how you can be an ally and take action this month: https://hubs.li/Q02ChK_n0.

As the driving force behind Cradles to Crayons, she oversees our national nonprofit that operates Giving Factory® warehouses in Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia, along with the online clothing donation platform, Giving Factory Direct, serving NYC and San Francisco. Since its inception, Cradles to Crayons has been dedicated to supporting children in low-income and homeless situations by providing essential items such as new or gently used clothing, shoes, winter coats, diapers, backpacks, and school supplies.
