Although most people would consider a surplus of assets a good problem to have, it can be challenging to know what to do once you have your financial bases covered. Ask yourself this: if you only had limited time on this earth, is there anything else you’d like to do? https://lnkd.in/eXrVkx4z

Missing just a few days in the market over many years can greatly impact a portfolio’s long-term performance. In a nutshell, making fear-driven changes to your investment portfolio has the potential to result in irreparable long-term damage, because you risk selling at a loss and missing out on the eventual recovery. A better plan is to take a long-term approach to investing that allows you to remain invested through periods of political uncertainty. https://lnkd.in/gpVtFiAc

Asset protection isn’t just for the wealthy. Regardless of your net worth, it’s important to protect the assets you’ve worked hard to build. Following are four key asset protection strategies everyone should consider. #1 – Insurance Based on your particular financial situation, it may make sense to implement a combination of insurance types, including umbrella insurance to help protect coverage gaps. #2 – Asset protection trust An asset protection trust is a type of irrevocable trust used to protect assets from creditors. Although typically used by high-net-worth individuals, these trusts also benefit those who work in professions that place them at an increased risk for lawsuits, such as real estate developers and healthcare professionals. #3 – Prenuptial agreement An effective way to protect yourself and your assets from the financial pitfalls of divorce is by establishing a prenuptial agreement. In addition to providing some control over how marital assets are split in a divorce, a prenup can also help streamline the divorce process and protect you from any debt your spouse brings into the marriage. #4 – LLC or FLP Both types of legal entities allow you to retain control over certain business assets while protecting them from creditors. https://lnkd.in/eyHN82Ej
