About us

The Cross Country Equestrian Association oversees the Cross Country Equestrian (CCE) competition - a brand new sport and the first to be designed for the thoroughbred, however any breed of horse is eligible to compete. CCE involves accumulating points for successfully jumping obstacles and incurring penalties for errors and time infractions. The simple competitive objective is to finish with the most points. A feature unique to CCE is that every obstacle is optional, which results in safer, tactical riding and dramatically boosts participation levels. The central focus of CCE is the horse- priortizing welfare, show-casing athletic ability and performance. The sport develops and tests the partnerships and horsemanship that keep the horse at the center. Sustainable and meaningful competitive opportunities in CCE has the capacity to substantially improve the prospects of countless horses, especially those leaving the racing industry.

  • CCE - Did You Know? ARENA SETTING vs OPEN SETTING The Jump Off Ride (JOR) stage has an arena setting section on the course. The arena setting may be an actual arena with a perimeter fence or simply be a demarcated area. Within the arena setting SJ-type obstacles are typically more common than CC-type obstacles, and the course route can repeatedly cross over itself. The open setting is everything outside of the arena setting and only CC-type obstacles are allowed. The Gallop is considered part of the open setting. #cce #crosscountryequestrian #enjoyyourhorse
