We are thrilled to share that Nicole Ruffin, Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) at Crothall Healthcare, has been recognized as TechNation's July Professional of the Month. Always knowing she wanted to work in healthcare, she initially believed nursing was her only option until discovering Biomedical Equipment Technology. At the age of 36, Nicole decided to return to college, inspired by her late mother's belief in the power of education. Following in her mother's footsteps, Nicole earned a degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology then started as a biomedical intern. Nicole seamlessly transitioned into a full-time position, a role she is deeply passionate about to this day. "I believe in never giving up and hope my career inspires others to find their place in [Healthcare Technology Management (HTM)]." Introducing "Bella the BMET," a new comic and activity book created by Crothall's Jennifer Chester. Drawing on her extensive experience as a BMET and avionics technician, Jennifer designed Bella to educate children about biomedical technology and inspire their curiosity and success. Through after-school robotics clubs, online classes, and engaging educational content, Jennifer is committed to making science and engineering accessible and enjoyable for young minds. "Bella's story isn't just about fixing machines," she says. "It's about inspiring the next generation. Bella shows us that any problem can be solved with persistence and knowledge. Meet Roy Morris, Crothall Healthcare's Biomed Director at Baptist Health Little Rock. Roy's passion for service led him on a mission trip to Guyana where he played a pivotal role in establishing the country's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. He worked alongside Gift of Life International to bring life-saving care to children with congenital heart disease. Despite facing challenges like outdated equipment and scarce resources, Roy and his team built a sustainable program that offers medical treatment and education on crucial topics like alarm management and infection control.
