And.. #ILCSPDWeek24 is a wrap. For the second time in Illinois history, dozens of K-12 teachers from around the state came together for a full week of professional learning, collaborating, and planning. These dedicated teachers did this all in service to providing hundreds of Illinois students with innovative, inclusive, and inspiring computer science learning. Many thanks to all who made this week possible for Illinois teachers - PEORIA SCHOOL DIST 150, Learning Technology Center, Discovery Partners Institute, CS4IL, Code.org, Google, Illinois State Board of Education, and the many, many individuals behind-the-scenes who worked tirelessly for months to put all the details of this week together. Currently representing CS4IL at the second annual Illinois #CSPDWeek, as I join many colleague educators listening to Illinois Deputy Governor of Education Martin Torres speak on the need for expanding pathways for all Illinois K-12 students to learn Computer Science, statewide. Grateful to Deputy Governor Torres for helping to advocate for the funding to provide for the first round of the Illinois CS Equity Grants, on behalf of numerous districts that have newfound opportunity to expand their own CS offerings to students. Thank you as well to Charity Freeman, today and always, for recognizing and building upon the power of individual teachers to impact meaningful change in benefit toward the students they serve.
