We are proud to announce that CultureSource is partnering with Bloomberg Philanthropies to bring the Bloomberg Arts Internship to #Detroit this summer! The Internship will connect 25 students from 12 Detroit high schools with paid internships at CultureSource member organizations to help them gain creative career exposure and support the operational needs of our region’s cultural organizations. The program also offers professional development, college preparation support, and cultural field trips. At CultureSource we believe in the power of networks, financial empowerment, and advancing racial equity. That's why last month we launched the Arc Fund—a new initiative designed to champion these core values. The Arc Fund is a $1.5M initiative with Ford Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, and Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, which will make 74 grants of $15,000 EACH to culture workers of color in Southeast Michigan. This investment in the careers of people of color who work in the arts is a benefit to the Southeast Michigan arts ecosystem, as it unlocks creative energy that has historically been stifled by systemic oppression. Rising high-school seniors from #Detroit public and charter schools can get PAID to explore creative careers through our summer internship program! The 8-week program will provide students with work experience and college-prep courses, and it will provide local arts organizations with resources to support youth and attend to their own workforce development needs. In addition to work placement, interns will participate in cultural site visits and curriculum days focusing on writing, leadership, financial literacy, public communication, college readiness, and more. We are proud to introduce the cohort taking part in our Southeast Michigan Arts Leaders as Cultural Innovators program. These fifteen executive and artistic directors will spend six months working with seasoned facilitators this year to learn the discipline of adaptive changemaking and strategies for driving organizational innovation.    At CultureSource, we firmly believe responding to emerging challenges in the arts sector will require a new model of leadership that embraces adaptability and entrepreneurship. This leadership development program is the first of many investments CultureSource will make in our sector's leadership and organizational resiliency. At CultureSource, we think about #equity as an ongoing practice instead of an end-goal. To become a model for this work, we’ve partnered with Team Dynamics LLC to learn and unlearn patterns of thinking about cultural competency—and synthesize our practice in a new, sharable framework for approaching equity. We invite you to use the document’s provocations and principles as guides for your exploration of cultural competency. CultureSource is developing a new arts internship program that will place rising #Detroit high school seniors in PAID internships at our arts and culture member organizations. The program will provide students with creative career-path exposure and college-prep experiences, and it will provide our members with resources to support youth and attend to their own workforce development needs.
