Nahid Boustani, a data scientist and transformational leader who sees through the double lenses of being anthropocentric and data savvy. Nahid holds a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from George Mason University in Virginia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. With over 10 years of experience in the data industry, she has found herself passionate about leading by harnessing the highest potential of individuals through holding the space for unleashing their impact. For the past five years, Nahid has dedicated herself to exploring the intersection of technology and humanity, particularly in the context of climate impact. Her philosophy centers on using data as a tool to enhance lives and protect our environment. She believes in driving change through collaboration, the merging of diverse skills, and the thoughtful integration of technology. Maria Laws is an award-winning educator and Vice President of Learning & Development at Ahura AI, where she drives AI-centered learning innovations to expand access to learner-centered education and training for the global workforce. A former UC Berkeley faculty member, Maria has extensive experience across K12, higher education, and adult learning, collaborating on science and education research as well as special projects with institutions like Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Lockheed Martin, and Genentech. She plays a pivotal role in the Seeds of Change research project at Stanford University's Women's Leadership Innovation Lab and spearheads strategy and support for A4AI, a nonprofit dedicated to developing the next generation of Black AI leaders. Maria is also the author of AI Empowered: A Practical Guide for Teachers, Learners, and Parents in the Age of AI. Our featured speakers are Mars Lan and Rishi Mohan, a dynamic duo from Metaphor Data. Mars Lan is a prominent figure in the tech industry, currently serving as the Co-Founder and CTO of Metaphor Data, a company focused on modern metadata management solutions. Before founding Metaphor Data, Mars had a significant career in leading tech companies, including LinkedIn and Google. At LinkedIn, Mars was a Staff Software Engineer, where he led the development of the company’s metadata infrastructure, which became central to various data management and compliance projects, such as GDPR compliance. This work included the creation and open-sourcing of DataHub, a widely used metadata platform. Before his time at LinkedIn, Mars was a Senior Software Engineer at Google, where he worked on projects related to Google Assistant and Google Cloud, among other responsibilities. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA, with additional degrees from the University of Auckland and the Nagoya Institute of Technology.
