Congratulations to Angela Chen who was selected as a National Merit Scholarship winner! The program starts when juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT, which serves as an initial screening of entrants. • Growing Excellence, one pair of glasses at a time. We want to say thank you to the community partners who helped bring the Vision To Learn initiative to students at DCSD! Recently, we celebrated 110 students from Fillmore Elementary who have received the gift of clearer vision. “It was the best day of my life,” is how Fillmore Elementary student Shawn Mukabane described the moment he received his new pairs of glasses. Thank you United Way Quad Cities for providing a vision for success to local elementary school students through the Vision To Learn program. Since the August 2023 launch of the program in Davenport, it has provided over 1,900 vision screenings and two pairs of glasses each to 515 local students at no cost to students or their families.
