🚀 Mid-Year Check-In: Speaking Engagement Progress 🚀 I had a goal for more speaking engagements this year, and I'm happy to report good progress! 🎤✨ One highlight for this week: Annabel Pickens and Marie Almeida of Talon Professional Services have invited me to their IT leaders' "Office Hours" weekly gathering. My topic? "A Practical Guide to Help Technically Oriented IT Leaders Improve Their Job Interview Performance." 💼👩💻 Here's the theory: IT leaders often lean more towards technical orientation. This means storytelling and crafting a career narrative might not come as naturally. In interviews, a less qualified candidate with superior storytelling skills can win more roles than a more qualified candidate who struggles with storytelling. (Will Barfield we still say that, right?) 🕒 However, my incessant networking often leads to doing "too much" of it, leaving little time for my work. My high assertiveness (High A) and low detail orientation (Low D) mean I delegate a lot, and sometimes networking can be a distraction. 📈 So, with things getting busier (#humblebrag alert), I need to pull back a bit. Actually, a lot.
