🚨We're hiring a Head of Growth🚨 Deal Sheet / Last Money In Media is looking for a seasoned Head of Growth Marketing to run end-to-end growth strategy & execution. This individual will have the opportunity to build out the growth function from scratch as we are currently a very lean 3 person team (new hire announcement to be made shortly) and bootstrapped. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in selling high ticket subscriptions and/or accredited investor products over the internet. The candidate must be a data-driven, ambitious, results-oriented individual who is eager to ideate and execute new marketing strategies, test new channels, conduct rapid A/B testing, and uncover new opportunities to grow Deal Sheet’s top line. More on our company… Founded in 2023, Last Money In Media is the parent company of Last Money In, #1 newsletter on venture capital SPVs with ~40,000 subscribers, and the parent company of Deal Sheet, a paid newsletter that provides accredited investors access to some of the best curated SPV startup investment opportunities at discounted carried interest. Any recommendations from my network would be amazing! Zachary Ginsburg

In July, we invested/wired capital into 6 companies. 5 shown below and another 1 on a different platform. - 3 companies were new investments. - 3 companies were follow-on investments. Riverside Ventures is aiming to stay active this summer despite the typical slow down of  fundraising activity. Deal Sheet has not missed a beat. We will see if August slows down, but so far the syndicate ecosystem is continuing to do deals we are seeing many syndicate leads launch what we view as high quality deals.

Deal Sheet (pricing going up again) – Save Carry + Get Access In Q1, 2024 we launched Deal Sheet, a paid email offering that provides accredited investors: 1) Access to some of the best startup opportunities across the VC syndicate ecosystem (est. 150+ deals on Deal Sheet per year) and 2) All Deal Sheet deals come at discounted carry – all opportunities on Deal Sheet are listed at 10% carry (versus 20% standard) with select opportunities (at our discretion) at 0% carry. Pricing is going up again Thursday August 1st.  To date - Deal Sheet subscribers have received 0% carry opportunities (versus standard 20% carry)  in a large number of highly prolific startups and 10% carry on almost 100 of the most interesting startup opportunities YTD from pre-seed to pre-IPO from across the syndicate ecosystem. We leverage our 4 step Alpha Access process to provide you the best venture capital opportunities: 1) Insider Access → Curating the best investment opportunities from 50+ Venture Capitalists that we’ve built relationships with and co-invested with over the last decade. Tap into a decade of our cultivated relationships including Midas List members, to access the premier startup investment opportunities. 2) 365 Deal Hustle → 24/7 deal-hunting to uncover tier 1 VC co-investment opportunities across all stages and industries, extending beyond our established network. We relentlessly pursue tier 1 deals, ensuring you access many of the best venture capital deals from across the startup ecosystem. 3) The Midas Matrix → Investing alongside the top co-investors is important to syndicate LPs.  We leverage co-investments with Midas List partner funds, and gain early access to deals that have already passed through some of the industry's most discerning filters. 4) Carry Crusher → Deal Sheet members get their carry cut in half. We provide specific links to 10% carry on all deals as opposed to the industry standard 20% carry, providing a 50% discount in carry for all 150+ annual Deal Sheet deals with select opportunities at 0% carry. Get Deal Sheet: https://lnkd.in/eS9xPvHN On Carry Savings:  Invest in just 1 Deal Sheet deal out of the 100-200+/year, and Deal Sheet “could” pay for itself 3x over (example below): - A Deal Sheet customer invests $25k in one deal - The deal 5x’s (net dilution) - Capital Returned = $125,000 - 10% carry paid to GP (instead of 20%) = $10k (instead of $20k) - Savings from being a Deal Sheet customer = $10k - Deal Sheet Annual Fee today (pricing going up Aug 1) = $3.5k  - Savings post Deal Sheet fee = $10k (2.9x ROI) - Savings on a 0% carry Deal Sheet (we’re expecting around 12 of these a year) = $20k (5.7x ROI) And this is just the potential savings for 1 deal. We are offering 100-200+/deals a year with LPs investing as little as $1,000 up to >$5M into our deals. Get Deal Sheet at the $3.5k/year pricing before prices increase. I’ve had ~3k accredited investors/angels participate in at least 1 Riverside Ventures SPV. It’s not easy to manage, especially when there are no meaningful management fees to build a firm and hire for the present… but I still love it. There are tons of requests and feedback given we’ve done > 315 SPV’s. Managing this many individual LPs is definitely one of the hardest parts of running an active syndicate. You essentially have hundreds, or in my case, thousands of customers without the ability to build out a team. I’ll be the first to admit, there is plenty of room for improvement for me here. But, emails like these truly make my day. As challenging as it may be, there are also so many incredible angels who have invested with us and also been helpful to portfolio companies and/or myself. Growing my network with LPs in our syndicate kind of feels like a cheat code. And I’m equally impressed by what they do or what they’ve built. I frequently send Zachary Ginsburg a text like “Wow, did you just see that (insert name/role) just invested in our (insert portfolio name) deal!”. So despite the many challenges of managing LPs, there are a ton of benefits and great people I’ve been able to meet and add to my network along the way. I got this email this past Saturday. Small things like this truly go a long way for me :) This referral also signed up for our Deal Sheet product! I’m trying to give Mark Cuban a run for his money as I’ve been told by multiple entrepreneurs that he has the fastest response time. -- Powered by Sydecar and Forge, Last Money In Media is the most actionable venture capital newsletter. We invested in 11 startups in June 😎 9 shown below and another 2 on a different platform. This is more than usual, so definitely not the norm on a per month basis. Just a reminder how active VC Syndicates can be in deploying capital and playing a support role in the venture capital ecosystem. Let's see if we can remain active across summer. p.s. I have no trips overseas this summer and I promise you nobody will receive a single out of office email from me :)

20th Issue of Deal Sheet going out today!!

View profile for Alex Pattis, graphic

Co-Founder & Co-CEO @ Deal Sheet → Curated private market SPV investments for accredited investors | GP @ Riverside Ventures (300+ company portfolio)

Today is our 20th Issue of Deal Sheet. That means Zachary Ginsburg and I have now shared 2-6 curated SPV investment opportunities a week for 20 weeks in a row. We were not entirely sure what to expect when we set out to launch Deal Sheet and curate deals for LPs every single week. A lot of deals to be responsible to share weekly, right? We had high confidence in our ability to source but also work with and support many of the other great syndicate leads in the ecosystem (that we’ve met, worked with, and co-syndicated deals with over the past 5-6 years). We’ve been fortunate to spotlight pre-seed through pre-IPO investment opportunities from over 20 different syndicate leads who all bring differentiated and unique deal flow. It’s a great feeling to have now completed this 20 weeks in a row (despite soooo much more to accomplish). I only see Deal Sheet getting better going forward and I truly believe this. I believe this is a win for Syndicate leads who can access additional capital and high-intent, quality LPs (in a tough environment). I believe it is a win for our customers who can now access more curated deal flow, and at discounted carry (10% vs. 20%) providing additional upside for LPs who are active in the ecosystem. A massive thank you to the many syndicate leads who have worked with us and our early customers! ♥️♥️♥️ Cheers to the next 100 weeks of curated deals!

Find those high upside bridge rounds & more on Deal Sheet!

📈 5, 10x+ Returns (on paper) for SPVs into Bridge Rounds 📈 Resurfacing this segment from a previous Last Money In Media post. We believe bridge rounds can present “value” and/or can be a way to invest in a business that is otherwise inaccessible as future larger priced financings may be taken completely by 1-2 large investors + pro-rata investors, leaving no room for other new VCs. Below, are a few examples of blinded companies that Zachary or I have been marked up 10x or more on: 1) Company A (industry: autonomous) – Seed Bridge Round →10x return distributed ~1 year later 2) Company B (industry: SaaS) – Series A Bridge → ~16x markup within ~2.5 years in a round most recently led by Insight Partners 3) Company C (industry: VR) – COVID bridge → raised at valuation cap at ~10x higher in ~2 years 4) Company D (industry: Fintech) – Series A ext. → ~10x val, markup in less than 2 years, unicorn priced by Goldman Sachs 5) Company E (industry: CPG) – COVID/Seed Bridge Round → ~41x val. markup in less than 3 years in a series C round (not yet announced) Also… because the dollar amount raised in bridge rounds is typically small in nature, a company is often willing to sacrifice optimizing valuation for speed to raise given the amount raised is likely a small dilution hit for the company – a 5-10% dilution hit as opposed to the 25-33% seen for many priced financings. That being said, there are many bridge rounds that bridge to company shut down, so beware. full post in comments. -- Powered by Sydecar, Last Money In Media is the most actionable venture capital newsletter.
