Earlier this week, Decisive Point hosted Congressman Jim Banks, who serves on House Armed Services, for a compelling discussion on the US defense industry. This dialogue explored how defense technology could support national security and enhance the domestic industrial base. Many thanks to Congressman Banks for his time and leadership, and to everyone who joined us in New York for this enlightening event. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to convene timely discussions on the future of defense innovation. Thomas Hendrix Nate Walton

Decisive Point is proud to be an early investor in Aurelius Systems and to support their mission to make high-energy laser cUAS systems a reality. With the emergence of small drones as a ubiquitous threat on the modern battlefield and disrupting global maritime traffic, we need low-cost systems to defend personnel and critical assets more than ever. #investedinthemission
Aurelius Systems Secures $2.1M in Funding to Combat Drone Threats with Advanced Laser Technology. July 2024 - San Francisco, CA Aurelius Systems, a pioneering directed energy company focused on developing edge-deployed laser systems for counter-unmanned aircraft systems (cUAS) applications, today announced the successful completion of its initial funding round, raising $2.1 million. The round was led by prominent venture capital firms Outlander VC and Decisive Point, Founders, Inc., 640 Oxford, Detroit Venture Partners, and First In. The Russia-Ukraine war has accelerated the rapid development of new warfare technologies, with low-cost FPV, autonomous, and swarming drones presenting unique defense challenges for the battlefields of the future. Aurelius Systems is dedicated to addressing the emerging threats posed by small-scale, mass-manufacturable drones that have been increasingly utilized in modern warfare. Led by photonics & aerospace engineering duo, co-founders Michael LaFramboise and John Marmaduke, the ongoing development of the company’s flagship product, the AI Laser Sentinel, represents a significant advancement in directed energy technology. This cutting-edge, man-portable system is designed to detect, track, and neutralize drone threats, providing a scalable and cost-effective solution for military and domestic defense applications. Aurelius Systems aims to equip the United States and its allies with the necessary tools to combat current and future conflicts effectively. “We are thrilled to have the support of such esteemed investors who share our vision of revolutionizing defense technology,” said LaFramboise. “The future of warfare will involve an increasing number of small, sophisticated drones, and our goal is to develop the technologies needed to protect our servicemen, servicewomen, both domestically and abroad from these evolving threats.” The now-closed funding will enable Aurelius Systems to accelerate the development of the AI Laser Sentinel, expand its engineering team, and advance its technology to meet the growing demands of modern defense. The company is actively seeking talented individuals passionate about national security to join their team and contribute to this critical mission. Interested?
