We are so excited to welcome our newest DVM to the Pack! Dr. Lauren Poulignot is joining the Dog Pawz team in Prairie Village, KS! She grew up in Kansas City and is proud to be able to provide high quality, compassionate care to pets in her hometown. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and has been in general practice in the area ever since. Dr. Poulignot has a passion for ultrasound, surgery, dentistry, and preventative medicine, but loves any good challenge. She and her family reside in Louisburg with their menagerie of animals that include dogs, cats, tortoises, goats, cows, and horses. When they aren’t tending to their animals they can be found outdoors and enjoying family time.

These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind! Today, on Juneteenth, I'm excited to share a special highlight from this month. I had the privilege to attend & present on "Mental Health & Wellbeing within Veterinary Medicine" at the 4th Annual NABV Conference in New Orleans, LA. I also participated in their DEIB Veterinary Industry Panel Discussion. The conference's focus on "Strengthening the Pipeline, Building the Legacy" resonated deeply with me. The NABV conference has truly become one of my most enriching annual experiences! Special thanks to Dr. Annie Daniel, Founder of the NABV & Destination Pet LLC for their unwavering support of this important event! Happy Juneteenth, everyone! #DEIB #NABV National Association of Black Veterinarians #WellbeingInTheWorkplace

Due to the events of the F3 tornado that hit the Valley View & Sanger, TX area, the Animal Hospital On Milam Rd's wonderful staff has gone out into the community & rescued many fur babies and brought them back into the clinic for shelter and care. There are many pups that they have under their care as well as that have needed treatment. One of their lovely guests is named Willow & was found on the side of the road by a wonderful human & she has a broken leg & pelvis that needs an important extensive surgery! Funds will go towards Willow's surgery, vaccinations, medications, & other treated injuries! They also have some pups that have found their owners but will be staying at the clinic at no cost due to their homes being destroyed or them being hospitalized themselves that funds will go towards. We would love your help in raising money! These sweet babies have been through so much trauma already & we appreciate absolutely everything that this community has already done to help them! If you feel led to donate to the cause, please use this link: https://lnkd.in/gPdhDvFD

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, several of our frontline workers across various regions and teams produced our first ever field-led training on Destigmatizing Mental Health in the Workplace! This amazing team collaborated so well to produce a very informative, educational, and engaging workshop to continue our mission of building cultures of wellness, inclusion, and trust in our centers. Ayesha Sosa, Marissa Burcham, Kelli Call, and Zachery Paul and their fabulous advisor Christie Germans are shining examples of #PetObsessed #TrustworthyPartners and our #OnePack values! Thank you for reminding all of us that #YouAreMoreThanEnough   #petcare #vetcare #veterinarymedicine #vetmed #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthstigma

Last week, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Destination Pet’s field leaders participated in QPR Gatekeeper training and certification with none other than the incredible Mia Cary, DVM. QPR stands for “Question, Persuade, Refer” and is a data-driven and conversation-based way of supporting folks who are experiencing suicide ideation.   In our commitment to being the provider of choice for pets and those who care for them (feel free to tweak), we believe that workplace wellbeing starts with ensuring our leaders have the training and resources to create cultures and practices of wellbeing in their pet and vet care centers.   #OnePack #veterinary #petcare #vet #pet #vetmed #connectedcare #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #youaremorethanenough
