The BuyDetroit Procurement Readiness Forum was a success! The overarching theme, “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready,” really set the tone for the day. While it wasn’t an official slogan, Racheal Allen, Founder/CEO of OPSIDIA, kicked things off with a keynote speech that left a lasting impression. Her energy was contagious, sparking conversation throughout the day.P Attendees walked away with valuable insights on scaling their businesses, navigating the RFP/RFQ process, and identifying potential pitfalls in procurement. Wendy Ekua (W.E.) Da’Cruz, CEO of The Mushroom Angel Company, shared her inspiring story, highlighting how consistency played a key role in her success. Deandre Berry, Supervisory Contracting and Procurement Specialist IV for the City of Detroit, provided critical information on accessing RFPs and other opportunities through the city’s website, offering clear steps for business owners ready to dive in. Special thanks to New Economy Initiative for partnering with BuyDetroit to bring Detroit's entrepreneurs such a quality event. If you missed it, stay tuned—more chances to connect and grow are on the way! #BuyDetroit #DetroitEntrepreneurs #DEGC #DetroitMeansBusiness

From Jefferson Chalmers to the Avenue Fashion and beyond! ✨ After becoming a Motor City Match winner in Round 10 and opening its first location on Detroit's east side, @pinkpoodledresslounge was able to set its sights on expanding to a second location on the Avenue Fashion with support from a $50,000 grant awarded in Round 25. Since setting up shop on Jefferson, Pink Poodle Bridal has garnered a loyal following for its exquisite collection of fashionable and affordable dresses. The boutique has become a go-to spot for wedding, prom and casual dresses, offering various styles for every occasion. That reputation is something owner Raeshawn Bumphers says has followed them to the new Livernois location. “A lot of our guests are looking forward to meeting our team and having us service them because of the hospitality that we provide. That’s what we’re known for. We’re known for being personable, reliable and people trust us,” said Bumphers. “Our dresses are not only stylish, filled with quality and affordable, but we have a range for all sizes, with different styles for different themes."
