Our community engagement team had a great kickoff meeting yesterday with staff and volunteers at Family Promise of Morris County. Family Promise’s mission to transform the lives of families and individuals by preventing and ending homelessness and housing insecurity intersects with the opportunity for NJ households to receive guaranteed monthly savings through #communitysolar. We look forward to seeing the local impacts that come from our collaboration with this amazing client-centered, and mission-driven group! With Haley Goodman, Charlotte Parker

The California Public Utilities Commission voted yesterday to implement updated #communitysolar rules. Erin Stone from the LAist reported on the decision. "Brandon Smithwood, with solar company Dimension Renewable Energy , said the rule doesn’t necessarily end community solar, but that the federal funding is key to his hope for it ultimately growing in California. He was part of that coalition that developed an alternative community solar proposal to avoid the “cost shift,” but the state ultimately rejected that proposal. “'There’s an opportunity to take that quarter billion to make a down payment on something that can be evolved into the vibrant community solar market we were all working towards...'" https://lnkd.in/eRqiNrqT

Thank you, NT Solar, for partnering to help us grow our community solar portfolio and fulfill our mission to make clean energy work for everyone! #communitysolar #solardevelopment
Project Spotlight: Dimension Energy – NY2 & NJ7 NT Solar provided a tax equity investment including financing $28 million in Renewable Energy Investment Tax Credits (ITCs) for ground-mount community solar installations across New York and New Jersey. These were NT Solar's first two investments in partnership with Dimension Renewable Energy , a leader in the development, ownership, and operation of community solar facilities. The project includes nine sites, with installations in New Jersey and an expansion into New York. These installations offer cost-effective solar solutions to residents. The investment was made through NT Solar's Climate Impact & Revitalization Fund, established to support projects that advance decarbonization and make clean energy accessible to communities. Thank you to The Sacramento Bee for a timely editorial on the importance of #communitysolar to ensuring all Californians benefit from and can participate in the #cleanenergytransition. "Done right, community solar policy in California can expand access to the financial benefits of solar and energy storage to communities that have been shut out of California’s rooftop solar revolution — renters and low-income households." https://lnkd.in/e7R9vieX #californiasolar #solarpower #solarenergy #gridmodernization #energypolicy

Outstanding editorial by the San Francisco Chronicle ahead of an expected vote this week by the California Public Utilities Commission on the future of #California's #communitysolar program. "Community solar is a win-win: more clean energy available to a wider range of people. These projects can reduce the need for larger facilities and expensive long-distance transmission infrastructure, limiting some of the uglier adverse impacts of the transition to green energy. And they represent a cost-effective way for builders to comply with state regulations requiring most new construction to be connected to solar power. But community solar has been slow to get off the ground in California, largely due to complex and stringent regulations, low to nonexistent returns on investment for developers and volatility for customers." https://lnkd.in/emTx5qMY #CaliforniaSolar #EnergyPolicy #SolarDevelopment #CleanEnergyTransition #SolarForAll #InflationReductionAct #IRA #solaraccessibility #solarfarms #gridmodernization #solarstorage

California's broad community solar coalition continues to press for changes that will ensure all Californians can participate in the clean energy transition. “We don’t think that this program should have the utilities be in charge of selecting the projects. We have a decade of experience of that happening, and the program just kind of dead-ends. The utilities are fundamentally not motivated to make these programs succeed. They’re focused on having them be niche products,” said matt freedman, staff attorney for TURN - The Utility Reform Network. https://lnkd.in/eBHCrpnS #california #californiasolar #energypolicy #communitysolar #cleanenergytransition
