About us
Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS), a Tulsa Area United Way partner agency, is the only nonprofit agency in Tulsa, Okla., and the surrounding communities providing comprehensive intervention and prevention services to men, women and children affected by domestic violence. The DVIS mission is to rebuild lives affected by domestic violence and sexual assault through advocacy, shelter, counseling and education. DVIS offers a 24-hour information and crisis line 918.7HELP.ME (918.743.5763), hospital support to victims of sexual assault, counseling, transitional living, emergency shelter services, legal services, and numerous outreach and community education initiatives.

We are incredibly proud that our client, April Wilkens, continues to speak truth to power and ask our lawmakers to make an important change for domestic violence survivors. She has been incarcerated almost 26 years for fighting back against her abuser in self defense. Thank you Ms. Magazine for amplifying her voice and the voice of other incarcerated survivors. Survivors are often left to fend for themselves in numerous ways, but when they react to abuse or fight back, they're given excessive criminal sentences. We have to end this practice and allow the courts to hear all the facts related to the abuse. Pass #SB1470 and #FreeAprilWilkens.
