It's not a day — It's a movement.
About us
EARTHDAY.ORG’s mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Growing out of the first Earth Day, EARTHDAY.ORG is the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 150,000 partners in nearly 195 countries to build environmental democracy. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. We work through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns. The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. Twenty years later, Earth Day went global, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and lifting environmental issues onto the world stage.

Our India team, Earth Day Network-India , had an incredible week in the Sundarbans! 🌱 KARUNA SINGH , Neela Majumdar , Steve Stiffle , Monodip Dutt , and Debapriya Dutt partnered with local teams to plant and monitor over 2.75 million mangrove saplings in West Bengal. By the end of the day, they were covered in mud but deeply inspired by the community’s unwavering commitment to these magnificent mangrove forests. Their dedication reminds us just how impactful our work—and your support through The Canopy Project—can be. 💚 Want to help sustain this work? On July 15th, EARTHDAY.ORG released Pets Vs. Plastics, exposing how our pets are being fed plastics and other unsafe ingredients. Just two weeks later, the FDA ended its 17-year partnership with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), which set standards that allowed: *Polyethylene Roughage Replacement (used in grocery bags) is listed as an acceptable fiber ingredient in animal feed *Restaurant waste with plastics can potentially get into pet food unless not specifically removed *Dust and animal feces are acceptable ingredients The FDA is now inviting public input on how pet food should be regulated. We have until September 9th, 2024, to speak up for our pets. 🗣️🔽 https://lnkd.in/gB4zaCSz #PetsvsPlastics #EndPlastics #PlanetvsPlastics #ProtectOurPets #FDARegulations
