Team is embarking on our fifth schoolyard renovation of 2024 at Bridges Academy in Oakland, and we need your help! 📣 We’re urgently looking for volunteers to help us with tasks such as landscaping, assembling playground equipment, painting, and more. Our schoolyard builds are fun opportunities to contribute your time, skills and make a significant impact alongside Eat. Learn. Play. and our amazing partners. Five years ago, Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry launched Eat. Learn. Play. with a dream of making a difference in their adopted hometown of Oakland. Today, we kick off our anniversary countdown by looking back at where it all began and celebrating everyone who has supported us along the way! What a week we had with the beautiful Melrose Leadership Academy community completing our fourth schoolyard build of the year. Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, KABOOM!, and Oakland Unified School District joined with volunteers to completely revitalize the MLA Sherman TK-2nd grade campus. In just three days, our hardworking crew installed a new play structure with some of our most playful elements to date! Plus, we constructed three new nature areas including an outdoor classroom, a special TK area, and 30 trees. There’s also a mini soccer pitch, a new multi-sport court, multiple murals, and a Little Town Library full of books. Thank you to our incredible partners KABOOM! and OUSD, the continued and generous support of Workday and Kaiser Permanente, the welcoming MLA Sherman community, and our entire village of volunteers and supporters, including  Lineage, Rakuten, Ripple, Curry Brand (an Under Armour brand), William G. We are pleased to share that Governor Newsom has signed AB 107, which secures $1.85 billion in the 2024-2025 California State Budget to continue the School Meals for All program. This funding will: -Serve an estimated 885 million school meals to California's TK-12 students during the upcoming school year, an increase of 60 million meals over this year. -Provide a state reimbursement of nearly $1 per meal, supporting the procurement of high-quality food and sustaining school nutrition labor in California. -Ensure free school meals for the 44% of food-insecure families in California who do not qualify for federal free or reduced-price meals, complementing a projected $2.6 billion in federal funding in the 2024-2025 school year.
