Eau Claire County is now accepting letters of interest for the Clerk of Court position. The current term ends in 2026 with the next election being in November of 2026. Clerks of circuit court are public officials elected to four-year terms in countywide races. They are statutorily responsible for various record keeping functions of the courts. As custodians of the courts' records, clerks of circuit court play a significant role in Wisconsin's judicial system. In April 2024, the Eau Claire Criminal Justice Collaborating Council (CJCC) updated its membership to include a new seat on the council to be served by a Community Advocate Provider. The primary focus of the CJCC improve the administration of justice and promote public safety through planning, research, education, and system-wide coordination of criminal justice initiatives. The CJCC generally defines the role of a Community Advocate Provider to be an agency within the county that actively works with those clients who have been criminal justice involved. Eau Claire County, Criminal Justice Collaborating Council is looking to fill this newly created seat on the council. Applicants must be a person or agency who can identify and articulate how they see their work as a community advocate provider. Applicants will be vetted and interviewed by the Executive Board. This seat will be elected to serve a two-year term. Formal meetings will be held in person every other month on Tuesday mornings from 7:00 am until 8:30 am. This year, my role has provided me with the opportunity to concentrate on leveraging technology and various systems to enhance both our routine and emergency operations within the office setting. Notably, one such system we have implemented is GIS, utilized to develop a Hazard Dashboard tailored specifically for our County. This initiative has empowered us to craft a sophisticated tool geared towards addressing our priority areas and identifying the most pertinent hazards relevant to our office's concerns. Administrator Schauf presented a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ to Facilities Director Matt Theisen, Jeff Hagen, Brian Spilde and Highway Comissioner Jon Johnson for their dedication to the build of our new Highway Facility.
