At the EDC's August Board of Directors Meeting, we were honored to welcome Major General Timothy A. Sejba, Commander of Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM). He presented on STARCOM's activities at Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB). In 2023, the EDC announced that PSFB, located on Florida's Space Coast, was chosen as the home for the U.S. STARCOM headquarters. We were thrilled to have newly appointed Delta 10 Commander Col. DaSilva in attendance, along with other decorated STARCOM military members. The EDC is proud to have led the effort to secure STARCOM on behalf of the community. By collaborating with our state and local partners, we successfully demonstrated that our community is the best option for training our nation’s Guardians for the 21st-century battlefield.

🚄 Driving Connectivity and Growth: Cocoa's Vision for High-Speed Rail Under the leadership of Commissioner Jason Steele, Florida's Space Coast has taken a bold step towards transforming transportation in our region. A delegation of dedicated business and political leaders, including the EDC's President and CEO Lynda L. Weatherman, recently traveled to Washington, DC, to advocate for a federal grant to construct a passenger rail station on the existing Brightline tracks. This pivotal project promises to enhance intercity connectivity and offer a sustainable alternative to road travel for our rapidly expanding community. Meeting with Senator Scott, Senator Rubio, Representative Posey, and officials at USDOT and the White House, our team highlighted how high-speed rail can be a catalyst for economic growth, providing new opportunities for businesses and residents alike. By investing in infrastructure that supports our community's future, we are laying the groundwork for sustained prosperity in Cocoa and beyond. Exciting news for Airbus Defence and Space as they continue their growth on Florida’s Space Coast! Today, Airbus Defence and Space celebrated a significant milestone with the topping out of their expansion project at Exploration Park inside Kennedy Space Center. Employees from Airbus Defence and Space and The Haskell Company came together to mark this occasion, celebrating the completion of the final major steel piece installed during the expansion of the satellite manufacturing facility. weVENTURE Women's Business Center and the Florida Institute of Technology Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design (CAMID) have teamed up to host the Florida Techcelerator Summit July 15th and 16th. To support a more inclusive innovation ecosystem, this FREE event will help connect founders with regional resource partners, business mentors, and funders 💰 💰 who want to support small business growth on the Space Coast and throughout Florida.
