“It’s about designing better and long-lasting realities. Ultimately, buildings are where we live, so we think about them as organisms, really, as a living thing.” – Ilse Crawford.   London-based interior designer, Studioilse founder, and Edelman collaborator Ilse Crawford on centering lived experiences and her “frame for life” philosophy with Spencer Bailey on the latest episode of Time Sensitive, a podcast that invites leading figures in arts and culture to explore their relationship to time. "As a studio, we talk about design as a frame for life. It's really a way of thinking about design that touches people, health, community, how things are made, where they come from, and pulls it together into a whole." Founder of Studioilse and Edelman collaborator Ilse Crawford on a design practice that centers human experiences, leather as an archetypal material, and her work with Edelman. https://lnkd.in/g9xg4kbK Video by Luma Projects

Introducing the recolor of three perennial Edelman leathers designed in collaboration with London-based interior designer, educator, writer, and founder of Studioilse Ilse Crawford. The refreshed and expressive palettes for Helm, Oath, and Poem are the result of Crawford’s meticulous study of Edelman’s values and each leather’s specific properties, as well as their potential applications in projects. Underpinning this is her respect for the elemental and long-lasting qualities of leather. This approach to color reflects the studio’s understanding of the use of color in spaces and a desire to make the range clearer and inspiring for other designers. Photography by Nick Ballon, 2023.

Coming soon: a collaboration with London-based interior designer, educator, writer, and founder of Studioilse Ilse Crawford. Crawford views design as a powerful tool to make and shape better realities that consider the impact of materials alongside human experience—a holistic approach she applies across interiors and public spaces. Having long admired Ilse Crawford’s visionary practice and dynamic view of designing for systemic well-being alongside lived experiences, the Edelman design studio was curious to engage her in an exploration of a material as tactile, historic, and long-lasting as leather.
