August is LIHEAP Action Month. How does LIHEAP work? LIHEAP is an essential, widely supported federal program that delivers critical short-term aid to some of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens. LIHEAP distributes funding to states, territories, and tribal governments, which in turn use the funds to help low-income households in their jurisdictions with home heating and cooling costs. Here are five facts to know about LIHEAP: 1. In fiscal year 2022, LIHEAP assisted 5.7 million households across the country. 2. The majority of households helped by LIHEAP have an annual income below $20,000. 3. Four out of five families eligible for LIHEAP aid did not receive it in 2022. 4. More than two out of five LIHEAP households include a person who is at least 60 years old. 5. Seven out of ten households helped by LIHEAP are home to a child under the age of six, an elderly resident, a veteran, or someone with a disability. #ProtectLIHEAP: https://bit.ly/4dsL0nD

One of the reasons I’m so grateful to be CEO of Exelon is the opportunity it provides to positively impact individuals and communities. We’re focused primarily on leading the clean energy transformation. But even while doing that, we are also focused on helping our communities become cleaner, healthier, more equitable places to live and work. We believe it’s our responsibility to ensure a better future for all. Thank you to Edison Electric Institute's Electric Perspectives Magazine for giving space for me to share my thoughts on how we all need to be all-in to bring about change.
