A new report by The Burning Glass Institute “The Importance of Understanding Non-Degree Credential Quality” highlights EQOS’ novel framework - which allows learners, employers, and funders to measure the quality and efficacy of non-degree credentials (NDCs). "A system that evaluates the value and outcomes of a credential – rather than just the fact of earning it – leads to alternative sourcing options and a wider set of paths for workers to access jobs and mobility," enabling employers to better understand the skills of workers who want to reskill, upskill, and workers who are skilled through alternative routes (STARs). Yesterday at ASU+GSV Summit Education Quality Outcomes Standards (EQOS) unveiled a new The Burning Glass Institute report “The Importance of Understanding Non-Degree Credential Quality.” With more than one million credentials to choose from on the market, how are learners, employers, and program funders expected to know which non-degree credentials (NDCs) offer the highest quality education and ROI? We need a common language for workers to present their credentials and compete, and for employers to understand the skills that credentials bring - whether those skills are defined by a degree OR a credential. The report unveils EQOS’ novel framework for learners, employers, and funders to measure the quality and efficacy of NDCs, helping people navigate the increasingly crowded and confusing education and training marketplace. This framework will help unlock #skillsfirsthiring for employers and workers who want to reskill, upskill, and workers who are skilled through alternative routes (STARs).
