“Knowing that my work contributed to improving lives is incredibly fulfilling.” Yoshi Kasahara was drawn to engineering because he has always been fascinated by understanding how things work. As a kid, he loved taking things apart and solving problems, which naturally led him to a career where he could channel that curiosity. His career journey has been shaped by a commitment to delivering on promises, building strong relationships, and helping others achieve their goals. This approach has opened doors to new opportunities and allowed Yoshi to grow in unexpected ways. Outside of work, Yoshi thrives on speed, whether it's on an amusement park ride or driving his cars and motorcycles. He also enjoys staying active by playing ultimate frisbee, football, and tennis with his boys and their friends. Family time is essential to Yoshi, and he makes the most of it whenever he can. A particularly rewarding experience was when he joined Starkey Hearing Technology to help launch their first wireless hearing aids. It was a challenging project, but he committed to bringing the product to market within two years and delivered on that promise. “What I love about Electromed is the unique blend of fun, laughter, and hard work. The team here is dedicated to making a real difference, and there's something truly special about being part of a mission that focuses on making life’s important moments possible, one breath at a time.” If you're interested in joining Electromed, check out our current openings: https://lnkd.in/gq4d48Wu

Many of us might wish to avoid coughing, but this natural reflex is essential for protecting our lungs and airways from irritants like dust, germs, pathogens, and mucus buildup. While coughing can be a helpful response, not all coughs serve the same purpose. Knowing the difference between productive and non-productive coughs can help you better understand your symptoms and when it's time to seek medical advice. https://lnkd.in/gPD8njtY

Despite growing awareness, several misconceptions about bronchiectasis persist, leading to confusion and sometimes inadequate care for those affected. Here are 8 of the most common misconceptions about bronchiectasis. 1. Bronchiectasis is Rare: Many believe that bronchiectasis is a rare condition, but it’s actually more common than people think, especially among older adults and those with underlying health conditions. An estimated 4.1 million people have undiagnosed bronchiectasis in the U.S. 2. It’s the Same as COPD or Asthma: Bronchiectasis is often confused with other chronic respiratory conditions like COPD or asthma, but it is a distinct disease with different causes and treatment approaches. 3. Only Smokers Get Bronchiectasis: While smoking can exacerbate respiratory issues, bronchiectasis can occur in non-smokers as well, often due to infections, immune system problems, or genetic conditions. 4. Bronchiectasis is Not Serious: Some people underestimate the seriousness of bronchiectasis, but if left untreated, it can lead to severe complications like respiratory failure, frequent infections, and reduced quality of life. 5. Bronchiectasis is Contagious: Bronchiectasis itself is not contagious, though the infections associated with it can be. The condition results from damage to the airways, not from something that can be passed from person to person. 6. There’s No Treatment for Bronchiectasis: While bronchiectasis is a chronic condition with no cure, various treatments such as HFCWO therapy, like the SmartVest, can manage symptoms, reduce exacerbations, and improve patients' quality of life. 7. Only the Elderly Get Bronchiectasis: Although more common in older adults, bronchiectasis can affect people of any age, including children, particularly those with genetic conditions like cystic fibrosis. 8. Bronchiectasis Doesn’t Require Long-Term Management: Some people think that once symptoms improve, treatment can be stopped. However, bronchiectasis requires ongoing management to prevent worsening of the condition. These misconceptions can lead to delays in diagnosis and appropriate treatment, making education and awareness crucial for better outcomes. As summer comes to an end, it's the perfect time to take one more trip before the cooler months set in. Traveling with bronchiectasis requires extra planning to ensure your health and comfort. Here are five tips to help manage your condition while traveling: 1.       Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep mucus thin and easier to clear. 2.       Use Hand Sanitizer: Keep your hands clean to avoid infections. 3.       Move Around: On long flights or car trips, move around periodically to keep your lungs clear. 4.       Manage Your Environment: Control your environment by choosing accommodations with good air quality and avoiding places with smoke or strong odors. 5.       Stick to Your Routine: Maintain your medication and therapy schedule as closely as possible. “The Electromed, Inc. team has the best combination of low ego leadership and drive to make meaningful progress for patients that I have encountered in my career.” Brad Nagel chose finance because he was drawn to the big picture of how businesses work and questions like, “how does a business make money?” or “how do investment decisions get made?”. He started his career as a bank teller and did his career journey “the hard way”. While unconventional, he is thankful for the twists, turns, and stops along the way. Brad has always prioritized working for really smart leaders over just about every other measure of career progression. He is grateful to those leaders for both coaching him and challenging him to grow. In his free time, Brad likes to be around his family at one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes, whether that’s playing pond hockey in the winter or water sports in the summer. His favorite travel destination is Wengen, Switzerland, a quiet mountain town that has nothing and everything at the same time.
